Nicolas Berggruen is the Chairman of Berggruen Holdings, a private company, whichis the direct investment vehicle of The Nicolas Berggruen Charitable Trust.
Berggruen Holdings has operations in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, as well as realestate and financial investments globally. The firm and related entities have made wellover 100 direct investments during the last 20 years by committing entirely its owncapital across diverse industries, both public and private and focusing on building long-term value. Investments are often socially and culturally driven. The Berggruen Grouphas offices in New York, Berlin, Istanbul, Tel Aviv and Mumbai.

Committed to leaving a legacy of art and architecture, he sits on the boards of the Museum Berggruen, Berlin,and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and is a member of the International Councils for the TateMuseum, London and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. He has collaborated on projects with suchrenowned architects as Richard Meier, Shigeru Ban and David Adjaye.
Mr. Berggruen was born in Paris, where he studied at l’Ecole Alsacienne before attending Le Rosey inSwitzerland. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business from New YorkUniversity in 1981. Prior to Berggruen Holdings, he worked for Bass Brothers Enterprises on the real estateside of this family-held investment firm, as well as for Jacobson and Co., Inc., a leveraged buyout company. In1988, Mr. Berggruen co-founded the Alpha Group, a hedge fund operation, which was sold to Safra Bank in2004. He is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and a board member of Promotora DeInformaciones, S.A.

• Berggruen Holdings began investing in India in September 2006 with acommitted investment pool of US$ 300 million.
• Initial investments included start-ups in basic industries, real estate,operating businesses and secondary markets.
• Investments made in India are diversified and include a green field start-upchain of full-service mid-market hotels; a vocational education institution, acar rental company, an equipment rental company and various real estatedevelopment deals across India. Berggruen Hotels was formed in September 2006 and boasts of astrong management team lead by Sanjay Sethi. The topmanagement has a cumulative experience exceeding 100 years.
The Company was formed with the intent to build and operate mid-market hotels, resorts and serviced apartments in India and otheremerging markets of the world.
The Company launched its “KEYS” brand positioned as Mid-marketHotels in January 2007 and all hotels will be operated under thisbrand.

The company has acquired 19 sites (18 for Hotels and Resorts and1 for Serviced Apartments) including 5 management contracts. Outthe 14 owned assets, 5 are already operational and 3 in Pune, Kochiand Vizag are due to commence operations in the financial year2011-12. Construction is under way at 6 more sites in addition tothese sites. 5 hotels under management contracts are alreadyoperational. The site in Goa is for an upscale resort while the restwill be under the Keys Brand.

Car Club launched its services in September 2007 and is led by SPBalasubramanian and is supported by India’s most experiencedteam in the business.
Car Club is focused on providing corporate car rental services tovarious corporates across India.
The Company’s mission is to build a technology driven, nationallynetworked car rental company to deliver consistent high quality carrental services to its customers. The Company has more than 700corporate clients and is growing aggressively.
Car Club’s chauffeur and self-drive services are currently availablein 13 cities including Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad,Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Noida, Ahmedabad,Mysore & Coimbatore and will soon expand to more cities.
Car Club operates 1,300 cars ranging from the Economy to theSuper Luxury range and includes the makes of Tata, Ford,Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet, Mercedes, BMW, etc. The fleetsize is expected to reach 2,000 cars by the year end.

Real Estate Projects
The site is approximately 2.6 acres and is a primelocation, very close to Hitech City, the IT hub ofHyderabad.
The land is located on the junction / crossroad of a 400 ftExpress Highway and a 125 ft main road. It has a roadaccess on 2 sides.
The project will have a total developed commercial spaceof 650,000 sq ft – the structure will be a high rise buildingwith over 20 storeys. Restaurants and a Hotel areplanned on the top floors.
The Licensing work is in progress; once construction iscommenced, the project is expected to be completedwithin 26 months.
Commercial Office Block - Hyderabad
• The Arcane project is a 125 acre mixed use (IT Park, commercial offices andresidential plots and houses) real estate development project in Mohali,Punjab.
• The project is being funded via a joint venture with large real estatedevelopers such as Urban Infrastructure, Khattar Holdings, Landmark LandHoldings and Arcane Developers.
• The JV Group also has an option to acquire and develop another 100 acresadjacent to the current development.
• The project has just received a sanction from a nationalized bank for anamount of Rs 800 million; the development work shall commence very soon.
Mixed Use Development – Mohali, Punjab
Mixed Residential Project, Mysore
• ‘Mysore Meadows’ is a mixed residential project with a size of 234 acres.
• The project is a Joint Venture with a local developer consisting of RowHouses, Villas, Condominiums and a Club House equipped with modernfacilities.
• Mysore is the second largest emerging IT capital in Karnataka. It has easyaccess to an expressway and Metro connectivity between Bangalore andMysore is in development. As a result, the travel time between both the citieswill be close to 1 hour.
• The land is in an excellent location very close to the acquisition recently doneby the KDA for an IT Park and close to the Infosys campus which is built onapproximately 500 acres. It is also in the vicinity of large residentialdevelopments and Commercial and IT office blocks.
• Conversion of the land conversion is currently is progress and the projectand we are in talks with the local housing board for a 100 acre jointmarketing plan – this will give our project a kick start – we expect the projectto be launched in FY2012.
Residential & Commercial Project, Vizag
• Vizag is considered to be the fastest developing tier II city in South India andamong the top 100 fastest growing cities in the world.
• The 5.3 acre site was won in a public open auction conducted by the VUDAand is situated at Madhurwada - close to the Government’s 1,000 acre IT SEZ.
• The project displays huge potential as various large IT companies are queuingup in the vicinity.
• Berggruen Holdings has planned a residential and commercial developmentthat is expected to break ground in the latter part of 2011.
IT SEZ Project, Coimbatore
• Berggruen has acquired a 2.25 acre parcel of land within a fully operationalIT/ITES Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Coimbatore.
• It has also become a co-developer and can develop residential apartmentswithin the SEZ – the co-developer status accords tax benefits, i.e. there is noincome tax on the revenue, no dividend distribution tax and is eligible tovarious indirect tax benefits for the entire development.
• The proposed development has an approved FAR of 1.8 resulting in over175,000 sqft of residential development within the SEZ.
• The project is located strategically, 10 kms from the main city and 12 kms fromthe Airport. There are also plenty of large IT and other companies alreadyoperating within the SEZ for the past few years.

Sanjay Sethi
Sanjay is a hotel management graduate from IHM Pusa and hasspent 23 years in the hospitality industry. He is a Certified HotelAdministrator from the American Hotel Association. He has overthe years acquired new knowledge through mediums likeCornell, XLRI and TMPT. During his 14 year tenure with the TajGroup, he served as an assessor of Tata group companiesthrough a model based on the Malcolm Baldridge method ofbusiness management.
Having worked across Tier I and Tier II cities of India, he prideshimself in having deep knowledge of the markets and employeeand guest sensitivities across the country.
In August of 2006, Sanjay quit a senior position at the Taj Groupof hotels to set up Berggruen Hotels (BH) in partnership withBerggruen Holdings, New York. He has personally hand pickedthe senior management team at BH to partner him in buildingout the business.
Sanjay is a hard core hotel operations person and has along theyears gained competencies in finance, marketing, design anddevelopment.

Partha comes with an experience of over three decades,primarily with the Tata Group and Taj Hotels where he has beeninvolved in setting up and re-branding of its hotels in New Delhi,Kolkata, Lucknow and in Mumbai.
