Interactive Ceiling Prototype New Museum : BIFID//2005

BIFID is an interactive ceiling prototype at the New Museum in New York. This ceiling system is still currently in production development with Arktura Interiors (Biothing, 2010). This product was a result of dif-ferent material systems that are composed of algorithmically derived intersections points between the components (wave interference pat-tern) and constraints of the numerically controlled fabrication method (Biothing, 2010). The material properties used here is polycarbonate material and with this material, the proportion of stiffness and elastic-ity can be achieved. Hereafter, pulsing lighting patterns are used, from which they are programmed based on the same mathematics of wave interference applied to geometry of the ceiling (Biothing, 2010).

“Scripting as a driving force for 21 century architectural thinking” (Burry 2011)

CASE FOR INNOVATION CONCLUSION:AfterAfter several research upon parametric modelling, computing in architecture and architecture as a dis-course. I have decided to focus upon my expression of interest on fluid forms and illusion for movement, from which the Gateway design will reflect upon significantly.
