Harahan Bridge Project and Memphis Aerotropolis

By the end of 2014, along a two and a half mile section of the Mississippi River, there will be a convergence of public/private successes centered around the Harahan Bridge Project. Meanwhile, the Memphis Aerotropolis will spur business attraction and boost job creation utilizing funds from the Partnership for Sustainable Communities. These projects will transform the local economy and bring thousands of visitors to the river and downtown Memphis.

REDI – Regional Economic Development Initiative
Southwest Tennessee Region — Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Lauderdale, McNairy and Tipton Counties
The Regional Economic Development Initiative or REDI was established by the Southwest Tennessee Development District (SWTDD) in 2008 to create a public/private partnership in 11 counties in the Southwest Tennessee Region. In their collaborative to create REDI, regional leaders are looking beyond county lines to create a unique vision for Southwest Tennessee that is distinctive and progressive and supports rural economic development priorities.

After two decades of focused placemaking, business incubators encourage entrepreneurs by providing small rental spaces at fair prices. This small business incubator was one of the first in Nashville and has been successful in part because of the prior revitalization of the area, catering to the tastes of the East Nashville residents.
