Tesco Presentation Vouchers for Schools
On Friday the 22nd of October Mr. Postlethwaite took Darcy and Samantha (Both Year 6) to Tesco at Kew for a presentation from Southport MP John Pugh as a thank you
from Tesco for participating in their Schools and Clubs voucher scheme.
Upon arrival we were treated like VIPs and taken to a room, in the staff only area of
the store! Refreshments for adults and children were provided, while we waited for John Pugh to arrive. Three other schools were also invited; Farnborough, Kew Woods and Churchtown. Once John Pugh arrived each school was presented with a box of
goodies, which included art material, PE equipment and ICT equipment.
After the presentation all the children were taken on a short tour of the store. First we went to look and see what happens in the bakery; we had to wear hats for
hygiene reasons. After that, we went to the room where they controlled the security cameras, some of the children managed to spot their teacher’s cars!
Before returning to school all the children were given a goody bag by Tesco, which contained amongst other things a pen, pencil, rubber, notepad an apple and a bottle
of water.
By Samantha and Darcy (both 6C)
This year we collected over 36,000 vouchers which we have used to buy art materials for next year’s Arts Festival. Thank you to everyone who has sent in vouchers.

Great news on the progress of the building
work!
As you will be able to see, the builders are making great progress with the extension work. The next
stage is to knock through to the existing kitchen. This additional space will enable staff to work more
efficiently to be able to provide the delicious menu
options currently available.
However, by the end of the month catering staff will
be unable to work in the kitchen to prepare food and this is where we will need your support.
Children who usually pay for hot dinners will have to bring in a packed lunch for possibly several weeks until
the kitchen can be re-opened. We really do appreciate it is not an ideal time
especially during the cold weather season when a
choice of a hot meal is preferable.
We are able to provide children having free meals with
a packed lunch as these can be brought in from another dispatch kitchen in the area.
We apologise for the inconvenience this is likely to
cause and really hope it won't be for too long.

On Tuesday 12th October 12 girls from years 5 and 6 played a football tournament at Stanley
High School. The first school which Norwood played against was Churchtown and Norwood
beat them 2-0. The first goal was scored by Abi
Wright and the second by Errin Telford. The second game Norwood played was against St Lukes when the whole team had to work a little
bit harder to win the game but we still won and the score was 2-1. Abbie Wilson scored the first
goal and Ashleigh Thomas scored an amazing free kick.
After playing against St Lukes, all of the Norwood players went to get their photo taken with the Everton ladies player, Toni Duggan and the FA
Cup, which Everton Ladies won last year. It was a really cool experience.
After a short break Norwood played a match
against Our Lady Of Compassion and Norwood won 1-0. Anya Day scored a fantastic goal in the
corner of the net.
7 A-SIDE GIRLS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
Norwood B 3 St. Philips B 2
Goals from Ryan Taylor-Reid, Joe Telford and Connor Peters gave Norwood a well deserved win against St. Philips in an
exciting and tense game.Great defending and superb throw-ins from Sol Wilkinson earned him the man of the match award.
Team: Josh Watkins, Sol Wilkinson, Joe Telford, Nathan Onyett, Jamie Kelly, Tom Lawson, Sam Morgan, Joe Davenport, Leon Booth, Rueben Sheridan, Connor Peters, Gabriel Angay, Ryan Taylor-Reid & Kane Baggaley.
Kew Woods C 2 Norwood B 3
It was a very exciting match between Kew Woods and Norwood. First George Southern went on a few runs but his shots went wide or were saved by the goalkeeper. then just before the end of the first period, George kicked the ball with his
left foot and slotted it into the bottom corner. In the second period Darcy Iveson-Berkeley and Tom Lawson held the back line well, while Harry O'Driscoll and Joe Rimmer had some amazing shots with Harry hitting the bar. Norwood were hot
and eventually got their reward with a brilliant pass from Brandon Robson to Jake Hawkings to blast it home to make it 2-0. Despite this Kew Woods pulled a goal back but Norwood held on and scored again with Tom Lawson taking on some players before scoring. In the last five minutes Kew Woods had a simple tap in to make the final score 3-2 to Norwood.
the whole team played a big part in it and it was an interesting game to watch.Man of the Match: George Southern

Finally, all the schools sat down together and found out who had got through to the semi-finals. Norwood girls got through with an
amazing 9 points.
Our final game was played against St Jeromes who were a really great team and
beat Norwood 2-0. All the Norwood girls played really well throughout the
tournament. Well done!

Just before the half term break, Year 4 visited Tatton Old Hall and enjoyed a step back in time to Tudor England. Dressed for the occasion, the children took part in some traditional Tudor activities. Here are some of the comments they made.
I liked the archery. It was fun aiming at the dragon because it was worth ten points. Shafayeth Uddin
We learned how to get the knots out of sheep’s wool and then turn it into scarves and bracelets. Olivia Shaw
On our trip to Tatton we did weaving, archery, jousting and watched a play about Sir Richard. Oliver Green
I thought the trip was great. If I had to pick two things, it would be the play and archery. Maddie Hayes
I really enjoyed using a flail to beat the seeds and the corn and then grinding them with two stones to get flour. Natasha Polansky
The best thing about Tatton, in my opinion, was the carding. This is when a piece of sheep’s wool is placed between two special metal brushes and brushed.
Lucy Fraser
I liked archery best, it was brilliant but weaving was not for me. In parts it was quite scary but great fun. Lewis Peacock

day, reception made chocolate crispy cakes, year 1 made fairy cakes, year 2 made biscuits, year 3 made flap jacks, year 4 made amazing muffins, year 5 made scones and year 6 made fresh cream sandwich cakes. The children all enjoy taking part and we couldn’t believe that after 10 minutes every year group had sold out WOW! which was brilliant. Our grand
total was £163.00 which we are donating to Children In Need! Thank you thank you very much to all our parents for helping make the day successful and for your continuing support.
