It can be a puzzling situation: youre getting voicemails and missing calls, but your iPhone doesnt ring. It may seem mysterious, or maybe just really annoying, but either way, it needs to be fixed. There's not one single possible cause for why an iPhone stops ringingit could be because your phone is broken, but there are a lot of things to try before concluding thatbut the fixes are all relatively easy.If you're not hearing your iPhone's ringer, there could be 5 culprits:1. A broken speaker2. Mute is turned on3. Do Not Disturb is turned on4. You've blocked the phone number5. A problem with your ringtone.Does Your Speaker Work? The speaker at the bottom of your iPhone is used for every sounds your phone makes. Whether that's playing music and games, watching movies, or hearing a ringtone for incoming calls, the speaker is what makes it all happen. If you're not hearing calls, it could be that your speaker is broken. Try playing some music ora YouTube video, and make sure to turn up the volume. If your hear audio fine, then that's not the problem. But if no sound comes out when it should, and you've got the volume up loud, it could be that you need to repair your iPhone's speaker. Is Mute On?It's always good to rule the simple problems out before diving into more complicated ones. In this case, you need to make sure that you haven't turnedsilenced your iPhoneand forgotten to turn the ringer back on.There are two ways to check this:1. Checkthe mute switch on the side of your iPhone. Make sure that it's turned off (when it's turned on, you'll be able to see an orange line inside the switch).2. On your iPhone, go to theSettingsapp and tapSounds. Make sure theRinger and Alertsslider isn't all the way to the left. If it is, move the slider to the right in order to turn up the volume. Is Do Not Disturb On?If those aren't the problem, it could be that you've enabled a setting that mutes phone calls:Do Not Disturb. This is a great feature of the iPhone, introduced iniOS 6, that allows you to stop sounds from calls, texts, and notifications when you don't want to be bothered (while you're sleeping or in church, for instance). Do Not Disturb may be great, but it can also be trickybecause you can schedule it, you may forget that it's enabled. To check for Do Not Disturb:1. Tap theSettingsapp2. TapDo Not Disturb3. Check to see if either theManualorScheduledsliders are enabled4. If theManualis enabled, slide it to Off/white5. IfScheduledis enabled, review the times Do Not Disturb is scheduled to be in use. Did the calls you missed come in during those times? If so, you may want to adjust your Do Not Disturb settings. Is the Caller Blocked? If someone tells you they called you, but there's no sign of their call on your iPhone, maybe you've blocked their number? IniOS 7, Apple gave iPhone usersthe ability to block phone calls, FaceTime chats, and text messages from phone numbers. To see whether the number that this person is trying to call you from is block on your phone:1. TapSettings2. TapPhone3. TapBlocked. On that screen, you'll see a list of all the phone numbers you have blocked. If you want to unblock a number, tapEditin the top right corner, tap the red circle to the left of the number, and then tap theUnblockbutton. Is There a Problem With Your Ringtone? If your problem still isn't solved, it's worth checking your ringtone. Ifyou have a custom ringtone on your phone assigned to contacts, the ringtone getting deleted or corrupted can cause your phone not to ring when someone calls. To address problems with ringtones, try these two things:1. Setting a new default ringtone. Do this by:1. Tapping theSettingsapp2. TappingSounds3. TappingRingtone4. Choosing a new ringtone.2. You should also check to see if the person whose calls you're missing hasan individual ringtone assigned to them. To do this:1. TapPhone2. TapContacts3. Find the person's name and tap it4. TapEditin the top right corner5. Check theRingtoneline and try assigning a new ringtone to them.If the unique ringtone seems to be the source of the problem, youll need to find all the contacts that had that ringtone assigned to them and select a new one. Tedious, but necessary if you want to hear those calls as they come in.

I read this somewhere. It helped! After checking that the "silence" button is off on side of the phone and the Do Not Disturb is off (in General Settings) Try this:Settings > General > Accessibility > scroll all the way down to Assistive Touch (click this and turn it on) > a circle appears on the screen - click this > Click on "Device" > check if it shows "Mute" > If Mute is showing click on the Mute bell so that the slash is gone and it says "Unmute"

Once you have "Unmute" showing > click anywhere on the screen to close this menu and click to turn off Assistive Touch
