I.3. Commonly Used Plumbing and Piping Symbols
Systems to explain their operation principles and construction Graphic Symbols are used extensively in illustrations of plumbing details. Common standardization for these symbols is generally followed by most design organizatios; however, there is no specific unique system approved officially and internationally. Two Examples of commonly used graphic symbols are shown in
Fig. I.1 below.

at ESRA’A University. The course concentrates on the design & calculations of Plumbing Systems, used in building applications. Course duration is 30 hours:
I.5. Objectives
Before an engineer sets out to design the plumbing services of any project, it is necessary that he has well defined aims and objectives in order to install an efficient and economical plumbing system. The role of an architectural engineer is to help and simplify the work of the civil engineer, find solutions, and complete the job carefully.

I.7. Architects’ Data
Architects’ data, necessary to design the plumbing systems, are to be prepared by the architectural engineer, for more information, see the reference: [Architects’ Data, by Ernst Neufert, pp 61-65, Second (International) English Edition, Blackwell Science Ltd, 1980, pdf.] Detailed Drawings are necessary; especially for kithens, toilets, and laundary spaces.
