Meera Tayyeb (Born in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on December 20, 1991) an Interior design student currently studying at Zayed University.

Received her High School Diploma from Dubai International School with a certificate of Merit in 2009. Her work is a reflection to who she is, recyclable materials and sustainable design is one of her main design concepts.

Meera participated in many activites and competitions such as: SiTinShade2012, Tasmena “Crossing Al-Khor 2012, Camel weaving workshop, Advertising for hagen dazes and also design-ing a Café stand in 2009 during the Funfair event in High School.

Biography

The way I look into things have changed since I entered the field of Art and Design,it is like the turning point of my life where it changed the way I perceive the world.

Design can be found anywhere, it is basically everything we see and use everyday and a good design can make me feel happy and inspired. I believe that inspirationcan come from anything around us. I personally get inspired by the things I see everydaysuch as, family, kids, food, quotes, nature, buildings and etc. These inspirations are part of my design process.

What motivates me the most is how things are made and connected and how a certain design can reflect on someone’s behavior and feelings. The process of transforming an empty space into a variety of options is one of the reasons that made me choose Interior design as a major.

It is always the balance between research and craft, science and art, religion and culture that I am interested in. My work and designs are a reflection to who am I, I love using materials that are environmentally friendly and at the same time, I love my designs to be simple and creative.

I want to have the ability to draw a smile on people’s face, make a change and improve our living conditions.

Fashion Academy Design

Designing a Fashion Academy in Istanbul, focusing on one floor only of the 4 levels in the existing building. The chosen floor is the ground floor, which basically contains the reception, coffee shop, retail shop, WC, admin-istration, Library, and a courtyard.

Designing an exhibition stand for Range Rover. The design should be in character with the product and should show it in the best possible way.

Designing a mobile design office that can be relocated from project to project. The aim of this office is to house one architect, one civil engineers and one administra-tive assistant to supervise and manage the construction projects. This is not only a working office but also the front face of Emaar for each particular project. This space creates an identity for Emaar and help visitors identify with the design lan-guage of Emaar.

Floor Lamp Design

A Floor standing lamp for indirect, soft and diffused lighting. The shape of the floor lamp is inspired by the geometrical shapes found in Islamic pattern, adding some modern touches that create a twist.

The body is made out of a round form of translu-cent acrylic with exterior of laminated oak wood cut in square forms and are painted in white. These wooden square shapes are rotated in different an-gles that give the lamp a feeling of movement and motion and create interesting lighting effects to the space.

An exterior chair design that can be fliped and used in three positions.
