Even if you have always thought you knew everything about the king of music, this list might prove that you were wrong.

So here we go –amazing and shocking facts about Elvis Presley!

Elvis had a twin brother who died at birth. He was buried the next day and his name was Jesse Garon. He was born 35 minutes before Elvis.

Elvis almost died from a tornado when he was only fifteen months old.That tornado in Tupelo, Miss., was the fourth deadliest in the U.S.

He got a guitar from his parents on his birthday, but he hated it. The poor boy was dreaming of a bicycle but it was too expensive for his family.

The word “blue” appears in the title of fifteen of his songs. Blue Christmas, Blue Eyes Crying in the rain, Blue Hawaii, Blue moon of Kentucky, Blue Moon, Blue River, Blue Suede Shoes… etc.

His early recordings were dedicated to his mother. Two of which were titled “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin”.

His favorite treat was a sandwich made with peanut butter, bacon, honey and banana slices!

In the 1950's, Parents of girls who idolized Elvis, were not very happy. Jackie Gleason once said that Elvis behaved like a sex maniac. Angry parents often broke his records or threw them away to protect their kids.

Elvis used to autograph the breasts of some of his female fans.It was quite convenient, one was for “Elvis”, the other for “Presley”.

When Elvis was 22 years old, he purchased a huge mansion in Memphis, Tenn. and called it Graceland.

In 1965 Elvis expressed his desire to enter a monastery. Presley was of a Pentecostal denomination, the Assemblies of God.

In 1957, after he had already become famous, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Elvis performed solely in the United States. The only exceptions were a few concerts in Canada in 1957. His manager refused any offers for Elvis to perform overseas because he was an illegal immigrant and was afraid he wouldn't be allowed back into the U.S. again.

Elvis disliked the taste of fish. Priscilla did, but she was not allowed to cook it at Graceland.

Before becoming famous, Elvis used to work as an usher in one of the movie theaters in Memphis. He was eventually fired for taking free candy from the girl working at the concessions stand.

He used to smoke thin German cigars. By the way, Germans who knew him used to call him “the rock and roll matador.”

When Elvis was a soldier in Europe, he desperately wanted to meet Brigitte Bardot. He was a huge fan of the French actress.

Besides coloring his hair black, (he was a natural blonde) he dyed his eye brown and his eye lids as well. This caused health problems later in his life. He almost became blind and suffered from glaucoma.

Elvis was very concerned about his appearance and used methods to retain his looks. He had a nose job, caps on his teeth and treated for acne.

Elvis had many fans who later themselves became stars. Bruce Springsteen, Roy Orbison and Cher were among those fans.
