This second phase of a three phase campus modernization, the South Tahoe High School Arts & Design Academy known as TADA, was modeled on a Hollywood studio that would not only be a resource for the students, but for the entire Tahoe community as well. The project scope includes the reconstruction of the existing 15,000-sq.-ft. performing arts facility and new construction of a 10,000-sq.-ft. production facility addition. Program spaces include an expanded 450-seat Theater, TV Production Studio, Choral/Instrumental Room, Foley Sound Stage, Multi-Media Editing Suite, Screening Room, Green Screen Studio, Dressing Rooms, Costume/Prop Construction and Storage. The state-of-the-art facilities have been designed to enable students to develop, record, and

produce their own television programs, theater productions, and/or film projects in both studio and live audience settings.

The project was funded by a local bond and received over $4.5M in State “School Facilities Program” Career Technical Education Grant funding which LPA identified and submitted for the District. The project follows the design aesthetics that were established by LPA during the first phase of buildings which focus on a modern “Sierra” vernacular married to a high sustainable quotient, that have won design awards from both CASH and the AIAOC Chapter for design excellence.
