Innovative Broaching Technology. In the field of metal cutting for mass production of parts with complex profiles
the broaching operation is the most economical production method if the following conditions are required: high
cutting volume and high consistency of dimensions. The advantages of broaching are based on its technical principles:
by means of a multi-toothed tool with cutting edges one after the other and graduated in depth of chip thickness.
The profile of part can be broached in 1 stroke. Technically other procedures do one tooth at a time. Broaching can do
all at the same time. Internal broaching is started from a pre-machined hole while external broaching is to machine a
surface profile. Broaching is possible in both directions horizontal and vertical. Cutting motion can be linear or helical.

100 years of experience cannot be replaced. In the year 1900, when KARL KLINK founded his company in
Pforzheim, precision and skilled know-how were already appreciated by the local industries. In 1920 he designed a
completely new type of tool that forever changed the metal working industry. This new method, named broaching, is
successful in many other types of production due to its high productivity. First of all, these broaching tools were used
on simple presses till KARL KLINK started in 1939 with the production of special broaching machines. With this step
a complete production system for the range of broaching procedures was extended. That was the base for rapid
business expansion and worldwide exportations. At present KARL KLINK's manufacturing range covers broaching
machines and broaching tools that set new standards in all fields of industrial manufacturing.
Research and Development. For decades KARL KLINK pursued the development of new broaching technologies. In
close cooperation with universities and colleges of technology and with most up-dated design methods it is possible to
create innovative machines and tool engineering. Present example is a newly developed hard broaching cell with electric
linear drives, enabling high speed machining.

Contract Broaching – Your way for production without great investment. The Karl Klink contract
broaching center covers all needs of broaching operations with a great variety of machine types. Manual or automatic
loading, as required by customers can be solved economically, starting from lot size of 1 through mass-production.
Special purpose broaching machines for dry and hard broaching are available for subcontract broaching and a CNC
helical machine with a pulling force of 100 tons for large straight or helical teeth in ring gears. A certificated Quality
Control System ensures the production quality.
