Why WSU?
• WSU is a research university—one of two in Washington State
• WSU is the Washington’s only land grant institution
• WSUV is one of four primary campuses (Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities and Vancouver) that comprise the WSU state-wide system that networks students, programs, and faculty
• WSU Educational Leadership program is a field-based scholar-practitioner model that utilizes both academic and clinical faculty
• “Cougar Culture!”
• Over 50% of the school superintendents in the state are Cougars (networking)
• Over 200 educational leaders in SW Washington and other areas of Washington and elsewhere completed the Educational Leadership program at WSUV (networking)

• The pathway to educational leadership requires networking and sponsorship (building relationships)
• The transition to administration requires a strong knowledge base and extensive leadership experiences--acquired in the classroom and from field based opportunities

• Goal: to prepare students to be competitive candidates for entry level leadership positions

STANDARD ONE
• A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared by the school community.
STANDARD TWO
• A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.
STANDARD THREE
• A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by ensuring management of the organization, operations, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.
STANDARD FOUR
• A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by collaborating with families and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.
