INTERVIEW
LUCIO ARU & FRANCO ERRE
How did you start the work of photographers? Is it the job you have always wanted to do?
Franco: I have always loved photography, but I got there not directly. In fact, I studied and worked as a fashion designer, and only in the last six years I started experimenting with photography, until 2010, when I met Lucio, when I started working seriously.
Lucio: I became interested in photography gradually. The first
I always knew I wanted to do something that would serve me as self-therapy. As means of expression.
steps were experiencing it with my father, who used to take the beautiful photographs of my mother, in the 70s. I fell in love with it. Then I began to study art, and love for this medium and its potential grew more and more. And then I met Franco! The job that I have always wanted to do doesn’t exist, I always had a vague idea about it. I always knew I wanted to do something that would serve me as self-therapy. As means of expression.
What attracted you towards fashion?
Franco: From an early age I have always drawn, then my “innate” desire to draw became a tool to cultivate a passion for fashion. I like fashion because it allows each individual to represent himself perfectly, but also the exact opposite, or at least what you want to be in a certain moment. Basically fashion, in the sense of dressing, is a way of communicating.
Lucio: Fashion is a very open concept and, for me, rather abstract. I “process” and live fashion while associating it with the vision of art, because the real one is not a long distance away...
What do you want to tell / convey with your photography?
What we try to convey is not a precise idea, but, more than anything else, a structure, which can be different every time. Impression rather than a thought. In short, what we do is actually what photography was born for: to stop a moment. Behind that moment, one can read all or nothing. It depends!
What are other forms of art that inspire you?
We do not make distinctions when there is motivation, commitment and love in what you do, everything becomes, to our eyes, worthy of attention.
I like fashion because it allows each individual to represent himself perfectly, but also the exact opposite...

Aseptic beauty clinic populated by untouchable and distant creatures, as if they were trapped in the bodies made of plastic. Lights, harshand violent, reveal, rather than jewellery, real pieces of art. Autographed works by international designers, that settle and wrap, almost possessing the protagonists without apparent life, a timeless story.
