“Children are crazy about junk foods.”

Healthy foods like vegetables, fruits ,and pulses never seem to be included in their menu.

Students have poor stamina and less attention due to their dependence on junk food . This affects their health, studies and makes them obese. Lack of nourishing food also makes them lethargic.

To ban chocolates , crispies , and packeted food.

Suggest a healthy snack time table to be followed in school.

A circular was given to all the students from Pre KG – Std XII to avoid bringing chocolates , packeted items , and crispies .

A circular of snack time table to be followed in school was distributed to the students.

Students of the Prakriti Club were deputed to check whether the children follow the Snack Time-table regularly .

Posters on healthy foods and junk foods were prepared by the students to create an awareness on junk food hazards

The team members along with a few members of the Prakriti club organised a campaign in the School on 1.10.10 to create awareness and to motivate students to have more healthy snacks. Students went around the School with placards and Posters and went to Classes I to VIII and spoke to them about the evils of Junk foods and good effects of healthy foods.

Students presented a role play in the Assembly projecting the ill effects of junk foods and good effects of healthy snacks.

• Students have started bringing creamless cakes and sweets even on their birthdays.

• A feedback form was sent to parents to know their opinion about the new system and how it has influenced their wards’ eating habit at home.

• It was a feeling of contentment to know that many parents appreciated the system and also conveyed that their wards had stopped taking junk food even at home.

Conduct a food fair – displaying the different types of snack items made out of vegetables, fruits, grains and pulses. Recipe of these items will also be displayed.

Guest lecture will be arranged to talk to children about healthy food and need to keep fit.

The Prakriti club members will continue with their duty of checking whether students follow the snack time table, throughout the year.
