1 GENERAL
1.1 Scope of the manual This manual describes the control interface of the system and is purposed for air traffic controllers and other personnel who need to control the airfield lighting system.
1.2 Control station hardware The control station is a 7,5” TFT LCD touchscreen unit
1.3 Control conditions In order to control the station must be online with the controls system (i.e. the PLC)
1.4 Control modes Control mode for each control class (direction, runway controls, taxiway common etc) can be selected from the settings / control settings panel (password protected). Selections: no confirmation / confirm off / confirm all are available.
When confirmation is required and a control button is selected a confirmation panel opens where the control can be either confirmed or cancelled.
1.5 Backlight control From the screen adjustment page backlight off – mode which turns the screens backlight off can be selected. The off-mode is useful when the unit is not used for longer period to save energy and to increase the lifetime of the unit. Confirmation window opens when entering the off-mode. Return to normal mode is made by touching anywhere on the screen.
1.6 Screen adjustments From the screen adjustment panel the background colour can be selected from light grey to black in eight grades. Also screen brilliancy adjustment with 16 levels and indicator is provided.
1.7 Control button activity indication As systems may not be available for both landing directions the control buttons are provided with activity indication which tells which controls are available for the selected direction. • Active : button colour light grey or coloured (not dark grey) • Passive: button colour dark grey
Also control buttons may have been included for future extensions to be activated later

1.8 Application page arrangement The application consists of main page with footer taskbar and several auxiliary pop up panels to assist control and monitoring tasks. The main page is divided into two sections:
1. Main display area with main controls and mimic diagram Auxiliary pop up panels appear on top of the screen (replaces the mimic diagram) and runway direct keyboard replaces the runway inc/dec keyboard when selected
2. Footer taskbar
Alive
On the left corner (top) “alive” indicator which confirm that this control stations application is running (alive box is rolling).
Online
On the left corner (top) “online” indicator which confirm that this control station is connected with the system
Language selection
Select user interface language from the national flag buttons. Two languages are available: local / English
Help
?-button opens a help page.
… Aux panel selection
On the right side set of auxiliary pop up panel buttons. Selecting a button opens the panel and selecting an active panel button closes it. Yellow-bar Indicator confirms which panels are open.
Password is required to open the settings panel
Alarm
When a new fault occurs the alarm buzzer sounds and the “reset” button will be red. The button remains red as long as there any faults in the system. There are three types of faults: • Control faults: buzzer sounds and the “reset”-button turns red. Failed
controls can be identified from the control buttons and mimic diagram.
• Panel offline alarms: only alarm buzzer sounds. Failure is indicated with the online-indication (turns red)
• DC-UPS alarm: buzzer sounds and the “reset”-button turns red. Status can be checked from the monitoring page (optional).
Select the “reset” button to silence the alarm buzzer

3.1.2 Runway controls Runway controls
Direction
Operation direction control: Control: New selection replaces any prior direction selection
Confirmation may be needed depending on the confirmation setting Rwy Off turns off all runway lights!
Indication: Button colour: • White (off) / green : selected • Grey : Not selected
Runway
Inc / dec control
Individual runway control with step / status indication. Control: ”Up”- button increases the control with one step “Down” – button decreases the control with one step
Confirmation may be needed depending on the confirmation setting Indication: Button colour: • Dark grey: Control is passive (no devices configured or dir=off) • Grey : Control is active Step indicator text and background colour: • Dark grey: Control is passive • Off / white: Control =off and lights 100% available (1) • Off / white / slow blink: Control=off, lights less than 100% available • Off / white / fast blink: Control=off, lights less than 50% available • 0,1%..100% / yellow: Control=0,1%..100%, performance 100% (2) • 0,1%..100% / yellow / slow blink: Control=0,1%..100%,
performance less than 100%. • 0,1%...100% / Yellow / fast blink: Control=0,1%...100%,
performance less than 50%. (1) Light availability means that the CCRs (constant current regulators, feeding the lights)are powered, online and in remote control mode i.e. available for controls (2) Performance means that the system (i.e. CCRs) is working with desired control step, CCRs output currents are correct, lamp fault and VA-status are OK. Naturally this depends on the monitoring functions provided by the CCRs.

(Landing/take-off: only take-off controls need to be confirmed) • Confirm all: All controls needs to be confirmed.
3.2.4.5. Offline log panel (touchscreen stations only) The panel has a log for 10 last offline faults. The offline fault happens when the PLC’s “heartbeat” is not heard by the touchscreen panel. (PLC has stopped or total / partial communication failure between the touchscreen and the PLC). The log can be browsed, each line can be acknowledged and it also shows total offline faults quantity and duration.
Open / close panel button on the settings panel
