EPHESIANS 4:1-16

1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

EPHESIANS 4:1-16

4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. 7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.

EPHESIANS 4:1-16

8 This is why it says: “When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.” 9 (What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions?

EPHESIANS 4:1-16

10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,

EPHESIANS 4:1-16

12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

EPHESIANS 4:1-16

14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.

EPHESIANS 4:1-16

15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

WHEREWHERE IS JESUS IS JESUS AND AND WHATWHAT IS HE IS HE DOING TODAY?DOING TODAY?

JESUS IS JESUS IS SERVING THE SERVING THE CHURCH.CHURCH.

EPHESIANS 4:4-7

The church is like a bodybody.

EPHESIANS 4:11-13

13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Jesus has not abandoned us; in fact, he says, “I’ll never leave you nor “I’ll never leave you nor

forsake you.” forsake you.” Jesus sends the Holy Holy SpiritSpirit. And God the Holy Spirit, the

third member of the Trinity, is present with the church.

He’s present with the people of God, and so he brings the presence of God among us, and so he’s the one who connects us to the Lord Jesus. He’s He’s

the one who, in every way, brings to the one who, in every way, brings to us the life of the Lord Jesus. us the life of the Lord Jesus.

Jesus is servingserving the church, he’s lovingloving the church, he’s payingpaying attention to the church, he’s devoteddevoted to the church, he’s

concernedconcerned for the church, and he’s workingworking in the church through the person,

and the presence, and the power of the God the Holy Spirit.

Nations come and go, circumstances come and go, and the people of God continue

moving forward. Across all the cultures, and all the opposition, and all of the persecution,

and all of the ostracism, and all of the complexity, the church just keeps pressing church just keeps pressing

forwardforward.

What is on Jesus’ heart is every local church that loves and serves him. And so we love

Faithworks Christian Church, and we love all the churches that love and serve Jesus.

We want our heart to be his heart. We want our heart to be his heart.

JESUS IS GIVING JESUS IS GIVING GIFTS.GIFTS.

If you’re a Christian and the Holy Spirit’s in you, you should like to giveyou should like to give. You realize God’s a giver, and to be a giver is a good

thing. See, the more you give, the more joy the more you give, the more joy you have.you have. That’s why no one is more joyful than God. No one’s more joyful than GodNo one’s more joyful than God.

God loves to giveGod loves to give. We don’t have to beg God to give. “God so loved the world he gave us his only Son.” God loves to give. Our God loves to give, and the more you get to know the more you get to know the God who gives, the more you become the God who gives, the more you become

like the God who giveslike the God who gives.

One of the easiest tests for Christian Christian maturitymaturity is whether you’re a giver or a

taker.
