How-To Use Signs To Promote Your Clearance

Sale

•At the end of every season slow-selling products have to be heavily-discounted to make room for the next season’s merchandise.

•Hosting a sale is a great way to drive traffic into your store, clear out old product, and even move newer, higher-margin product.

•Customers are well aware of the seasonality of sales. They scour the newspapers, your website, etc., so they can be first in-line.

•Take advantage of this excitement by promoting your sale using signage.

•If your sale is unexpected or too sudden, customers won’t have time to spread the word, and your turnout will be poor.

•Market your sale ahead-of-time. Don’t reveal everything, but give customers a sneak peek into what’s coming their way.

•Ask customers on your mailing list to come to an invitation-only “sale preview,” where they get first pick of the sale merchandise.

•Tease your shoppers with as little information as necessary to get them buzzing about the upcoming sale.

•On sale day, you’ll need to identify which products are on-sale.

•Use die-cut vinyl decals to mark your sale products or a low-tack decal which can be removed and reused for the next sale.

•Hang a banner telling customers where to find bargains and how- to tell what’s on sale. Display another vinyl banner outside your storefront advertising the sale.

•Use window clings to show customers what’s on-sale and how much of a percentage off is available inside.

•Encourage customers to check out your new merchandise as well.

•Create a feature display of this season’s product line, and place a vertical banner next to it to attract customers to your new goods.

•The sale is what attracts customers into the store, but they’re likely to buy merchandise that isn’t on-sale as well once they see what’s available.

•If your budget allows, create unique signs for every sale you have.

•If your funds are limited, there are many reusable products which you can store for the next sale.

•Regardless of how you choose to advertise it, customers won’t come to your sale if they don’t know that it’s happening.
