How to Stop Snoring

Do you disturb someone's sleep at night because of your loud, frequent

snoring?

Earplugs or sleeping separately aren’t the only ways to fix this.

Change Sleeping Position

Do you prefer sleeping on your back? This position causes your tongue and soft palate lean against the back of your throat when you’re asleep. When the airway is blocked, it creates vibrating sound. Try sleeping on your side to help prevent it

Avoid Alcohol Before Bedtime

Do you like beers and wines for your nightcaps? Too bad snoring and drinking go hand and hand. This is because alcohol relaxes your muscles when intoxicated. When muscles of your throats are relaxed, they cause further blockage of airway and results to snoring.

Lose WeightHave you checked your BMI? Over 25 means you’re overweight and over 30 means you’re obese, ergo you have to lose weight to get rid of snoring along with other diseases that may come with obesity. "If you gain weight around your neck, it squeezes the internal diameter of the throat, making it more likely to collapse during sleep, triggering snoring." says Daniel P. Slaughter, MD, snoring expert at Capital Otolaryngology in Austin, Texas.

Check your Nasal PassagesNasal snoring happens when nasal passages are blocked, due to sinus, colds or being innately born with small nasal passages. This can be remedied through nasal plugs, strips, and nasal sprays and inhalers for people who suffer from congestion.

Check for Allergens in your Bedroom

Your snoring may be due to allergies. Allergic rhinitis inflames and irritates nasal passages. When nasal passages are blocked, you breathe through your mouth which results to the incoming air to noisily colliding with your soft palate.

Regulate a Good Sleeping Routine

Do you overtire or overeat before going to bed? Poor sleeping habits can lead to chronic snoring. Practice good sleep hygiene and see the difference.

Use anti-snoring devices

Lastly, you can use anti-snoring device to put an end to noisy sleeping. Aside from nasal dilator and chin traps, you can also use mouthguards and mouthpiece or high-quality dorsal silencers created by modern denture clinic like A&B Dental Laboratory.
