DESCRIPTION

Reference Signal Receive Power (RSRP) on LTE Network is main parameter that guaranted the coverage. In some case we can use power boosting to improve the coverage with use Power Boosting (PB).

PB Explanation

*PB 0 is mean there is no increment on CRS RE it’s mean non power boosting, but PDSCH power increase to 5/4.*By using PB 1, the RS Power increase on CRS RE two units it’s mean about power boosting and PDSCH power on symbol type B same.

*By using PB 3, the RS Power increase on CRS RE 4 units it’s mean about power boosting and PDSCH power on symbol type B reduce half than PB 1.

RSRP with PB : 3

9

RSRP Comparison

From Simulation single site there is no difference between PB 1 and PB 3 usage in coverage plot. But from Power Consumption Calculation PB 1 will used around 10 W on each port of RRU.And For PB 3 will used around 5 W on each port of RRU.

In this simulation one site have configuration of 10 MHz and all cell’s using RS Power 15.2 dBm with different PB configuration.

SINR Comparison

From Simulation single site there is improvement of SINR > 0 dB around 3.65%

DL Throughput with PB : 3

15

DL Throughput Comparison

From Simulation single site there is improvement of DL Throughput > 12.5 Mbps around 0.04 %PB 3 in this simulation have 101.9 Kbps more higher than PB 1 Average DL Throughput.

But Peak Throughput still same at 28.17 Mbps

Using RS Power 18.2 dBmwith PB 3

DL Throughput Comparison

Compare with Average user Throughput for RS Power 15.2 dBm PB 1 which have same power consumption, Average DL Throughput for 18.2 dBm PB3 have degraded 0.46% inside the polygon. This degradation inline with the improvement of coverage outside the polygon.

Application of Power Boosting

Power Boosting can be used in order to manipulate

limited of power that can be used for single carrier

coverage not more than half of capacity. Implementation of Power Boosting (PB) can be

applicable for area where site to site distance is more

than 800 meter for outer area, and can be used also in

inner area if the morphology of that area is mostly

dominated with High Rise Building, Dense of Ruko

(House with Commercial area) with more than 1 floor,

this condition need additional site or we can use more

penetration power with PB implementation.
