How Important Mufflers & Exhaust System For Cars?

The exhaust system is responsible for collecting and reducing the harmful effect from the air before releasing it

to environment.

The muffler system streamlines vehicle operation and maximizes performance and

efficiency.

The first and foremost work of muffler is to removing the emission which allows the vehicle to safe for driver as well

as passengers.

Parts Of Exhaust System :--

The exhaust system is a combination of chambers and pipes which starts from engine to tailpipes.

The vehicles that have 8 cylinder engines possess 2 exhaust system one is for right and other is for left

cylinders.

Exhaust manifold :- The manifold is responsible for releasing the gasses from different cylinders.

Oxygen Sensor :- It measures the availability of air in engine and then the CPU decides the

amount is proper or need more air for combustion.

Exhaust pipes :- These pipes carry the exhaust from the manifold to the tailpipe.

Catalytic Converter :- This part converts the harmful carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon gases into carbon dioxide and water

vapor which remain exhaust a safe solution for environment.

Muffler :- The muffler acts as a silencer for the loud noises that come from combustion.

Muffler also helps to drive the exhaust fumes out of the engine and away from the passengers cabin.

Why Mufflers Need To Be Replaced??

The deterioration of muffler depends on the area where it is running . If you use dusty area then the dust can become

an issue for degradation.

In winter, the external road salt starts to stick on the outside of muffler which causes rusting deterioration.

The water droplets which releases from exhaust can cause internal rust in the muffler.

Important symptoms of muffler failure :--

Excessive engine noise :-- When you hear loud noises coming from engine.

:- If the car feels sluggish when you start.

:- If you hear vibration and rattling noise coming from underneath the car.

Decrease In fuel Efficiency:- The muffler failure causes the vehicle to run more hotter and decrease in fuel efficiency.

:- If you smell fumes from under the hood then it indicates the symptoms of exhaust leak.

:- Sometimes there is hissing and popping noises came from muffler which is also an easy symptom of leaking muffler.

:- A rattling or buzzing noise from exhaust can also indicate a loosen heat shield around the exhaust pipes.
