How I linked my products

I used several techniques to link my products. This is a useful way to inform an audience of the link between certain work by a band.

The first example would be the use of hazard strips. Connoting danger, this links to a prop used in the music video.

These images are from all three of my products. They all relate as they’re taken from the same location, with the same props. It shows an audience who may be viewing these products at different times that these link. So, e.g. if they liked the song for the music video, they would know that the CD with this back cover would most likely contain it.

The first shot links to the CD front cover, as both are an image of the band’s logo. They give the band the connotations of rebellion and may lead an audience to believe that the song to this music video is contained on this album. It also gives the band a recognisable symbol. The logo can also be recognised on the spine, so could be noticed in a group of CDs.

The hairstyles link the products together. In every product, at least one member of the band has a distinctive hairstyle, typical of the punk genre.

The promotional album poster contains a photo of the CD cover. This links the products and an audience would be able to recognise what the promotional album poster is advertising, so they will be aware of the CD when it is released onto music store shelves.

The CD front cover, album spine and the promotional album poster display clear text of the band name and the album title, linking them together as products of the same artwork .

There is a display of the record label on the promotional album poster and the back cover of the CD, directing an audience to their work and offering an indication of what music genre they belong to.

The CD disc tray artwork is the same image as the promotional album poster, allowing the audience to be more reassured that the poster and the CD are linked.

The music video contains similar footage to the image on the back cover, linking the products together.
