HELIARC®. THE FIRST NAME IN TIG.
YOU AND HELIARC.
NOT EVERYONE APPRECIATES THE BEAUTY OF A TRULY
GREAT WELD. BUT YOU DO. YOU’VE PUT IN THE YEARS
AND MASTERED THE ART AND CRAFT OF GTAW (TIG).
AND EVER SINCE THE PROCESS WAS INVENTED, HELIARC
HAS BEEN SYNONYMOUS WITH TIG WELDING. WITH
BEST-IN-CLASS PERFORMANCE ACROSS AC AND DC
TIG, THE LOWEST COST OF ACQUISITION, AND ESAB’S
LEADING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING, THESE
MACHINES ARE WORTHY OF YOUR SKILL.
Easy-to-Use Interface
The control panel of this advanced TIG unit is
divided into 5 clear sections, making it easy to
choose the options and settings you need for fast
set up and excellent arc control. The machine’s
internal communication is entirely digital to give
you high accuracy and repeatability.
Two Versions AvailableHeliarc 283i – 280 A unit for 3-phase 400 connections
Heliarc 353i – 350 A unit for 3-phase 400 connections (For more power when welding thicker materials.)
Choose between MMA, TIG 2- and
4-stroke mode (trigger latch), TIG spot,
and trigger-enabled peak to background
current, which can be used as a manual
pulse to decrease heat and better control
puddle fluidity while welding. In MMA
mode, the submenu allows for access
to Hot Start and Arc Force settings.
Displays power status, output, over
temperature indicator, and features two
digital displays that provide a variety
of user-selected information.

pre-gas, post-gas, pulse, and duty
options. Heliarc also allows you to
store and recall up to 60 programs.
Specific AC settings include wave form
control for pulsing, frequency, and balance.
Easily choose your preferred start, with
or without high-frequency and remote
control on/off. Additionally, remote

AC Balance
Controlling arc cleaning and penetration is easy
with the AC Balance setting, as is regulating the
heat on the electrode.
Pulsing
Pulsing allows for lower heat dissipation, better
control of the weld pool, less plate deformation,
and more even welds. Both AC and DC pulsing is
used to regulate heat input and control the pool,
making it perfect for welding thin materials. DC
pulsing, with square wave, cuts current peaks and
provides symmetric power, a stable arc, and perfect
interfusion between base and filler material.
The duty setting allows for an easy adjustment
between pulse and background time.
Immediate Control of Heat Input
Controlling the heat in your arc is easy with
either the optional FC-5C foot control or TIG torch
mounted remote current control. Additionally, these
machines feature a manual pulsing heat control
function to optimise operator control during welding.
Simply pressing the torch switch quickly reduces
the current to a pre-set base and pressing it again
returns it to the set current.
High-Frequency Start
Count on high-quality, accurate, and exact starts. In
AC, the arc is designed so that the high frequency is
only needed upon start, reducing electrical noise and
risk of interference with surrounding electronics. When
welding in areas where electronic disturbance is an
issue, the high frequency can be switched off entirely
and an electronic Live TIG start can be used.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES.
Inverter Technology
State-of-the-art inverter technology means
you benefit from energy savings and superior
functionality right from the start, all in a package
that is lighter, smaller, and less expensive than
old technology SCR machines.
AC Frequency
Allows control of arc width and penetration,
making both wider arcs with less penetration
or narrow arcs with deep penetration and
faster speeds achievable. Wider arc with lower frequency
Narrow arc with higher frequency
60 Program Storage
Increase your productivity by easily storing
up to 60 parameter sets for quick changes
while working.
Compliance with the Highest Standards
Heliarc 283i, and 353i have been designed
to meet the highest international standards.
Energy Efficiency
Lower power requirements mean you save money
and get a faster return on your investment. Enjoy
the convenience of lower current draw, a smaller
and more manageable power cord, and the ability
to use a more compact generator when working
in the field.
