Healthy lunches

• Each week at the Goldfields Senior School, one of the classes prepares a healthy lunch to share with all the students.

• They have to decide what they are going to prepare for the students.

• We always try to have the five colours in the vegetables we serve with the meal.

• Sometimes we decide to have an ‘occasional ‘ food as a treat. We do like ice cream with our winter desserts.

We bought the mince from the supermarket. We are using the mince to make the hamburger patties. Holly

The patties are ready to cook in a frying pan. We did it as a group. We mixed onion soup mix into the mince. Kelsea

Patties are made from mince. When mince is cooked it is brown. When it is not cooked it is red. I like mince. James

We have put the vegetables into a pile to show we have the five colours. The fresh cold vegetables were part of our healthy lunch. They were very scrumptious. Samuel

We are working as a team making food. Everybody has a turn preparing the vegetables and fruit.

I am grating a raw carrot for the hamburger during the preparation for healthy lunch. Carrots are orange and

crunchy.Kelsea

I am grating the carrots because I am putting the carrots in the hamburger. I cut the tomatoes in slices to put in the hamburger. We will eat the hamburger for lunch. It will taste great.

When we decide on what to have for lunches we try to have the 5 colours in our vegetables. Here are our vegetables all ready to go

into the hamburgers: carrot, beetroot, lettuce and tomato. We used cheese for the yellow colour. Holly

We have all the 5 colours for the fruit salad. We are using

fresh fruits. Emil

Emil is chopping the watermelon for the fruit salad. The water melon is red. The water melon is yummy. Holly

We will have some fresh fruit salad with apple in it. I cut the apple into small pieces with a big knife. I will leave the skin on the apple to keep the red colour. Melissa

I am cutting up the kiwi fruit for the fruit salad for our healthy lunch. We chose the golden kiwi fruit because it gives us the

yellow colour. Kelsea

Our fruit salad looks delicious and fresh. Ms Mc added passionfruit pulp to make the fruit salad have another different flavour. Emil

I have to shake the yoghurt mixture to make sure it is really mixed before I put the jar into the yoghurt maker. I will put the yoghurt jar in a safe place until we have healthy lunches

tomorrow. Emil

Fresh fruit salad and Greek yoghurt is a delicious dessert for our healthy lunches. Samuel

Emil has already put some of the vegetables on the hamburgers. He is putting the carrots on the lettuce.
