How to search Infotrac to find the most accurate information in today’s medical world

Overview

MeL is the Michigan e-Library program funded by the state that offers reference and information tools at no charge to Michigan residents.

One of the resources is called Infotrac. Infotrac is a searchable database that

can be cross searched or searched by category as we will see in this PowerPoint.

Click on MeL Databases to get to a complete list of MeL’s offerings.

Scroll to “H” and locate: Health Reference Center Academic

To Search Use the Find: bar to search by Subject, Keyword, or for the Entire Document.

This is a sample search for Academic Journals on the Keyword “OCD”. We see that 248 articles are displayed. From the tabs noted by arrows we can view Magazines (312), Books (6) , News (392), and Multimedia (2) as well.

To view Multimedia files about the searched keyword, click the multimedia tab.

Here we see an audio file.

Here is a transcript from a radio broadcast from Morning Edition.

To play an audio file click on the link. The title is displayed in blue.

Locate the link highlighted in red. This link will direct you to a site containing the desired media.

Multimedia is also displayed proceeding the initial search on the left hand side of the results.

Conclusion

Infotrac contains up to date information from thousands of sources.

This is a valuable resource that students and adults who reside in the State of Michigan have access to.

Infotrac is one out of many resources available through the Michigan e-Library (MeL).
