◊ The aim of health education from K-12 is to enable students to apply health knowledge in daily life in order to increase health-enhancing behaviors and decrease health-risking behaviors.

GRADE 3-5 Health Standard 1Performance Indicators Describe the relationship between healthy behaviors.

Identify examples of emotional, intellectual, physical, and social health. Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention.

Describe ways to prevent common childhood injuries. Describe ways to prevent communicable diseases.

Health Standard 2Performance Indicators Students will analyze the influence of family, peers,

culture, media, technology, and other health behaviors.

Describe how the family influences personal health practices and behaviors.

Explain how media influences thoughts, feelings, and health behaviors.

Health Standard 3Performance IndicatorStudents will demonstrate the ability to access valid information and products and services to enhance health.
