With the termination of traditional stopping places they found it hard to find places to stay.

The 1968 Caravans Sites Act placed a demand on councils to build sites but the 1994 Criminal Justices Act put an end to site provision,

Lack of sites meant the Gypsy people had to either buy their own land or go into housing
