Google Analytics Integration
NewZapp Enterprise users can integrate their email marketing campaigns with Google Analytics. If your
account does not have this feature, contact us for more information.
How to add Google Analytics to a campaign
1. Hover over the cog icon
(top right corner of any screen)
2. Choose Settings from the dropdown menu.
3. Tick the Include Google Analytics check box and
click the Save button (top left of your screen).
4. You can also save a Default GA Campaign Name
which will be applied if you send a campaign
without one saved in your Email Details, but we
recommend using a different Google Analytics
Campaign Name for every campaign you send.
5. Open the Create & Send tab and create a new
email.
6. On the Email Details step, add a Google Analytics
Campaign Name. This can be any word or phrase,
such as NewZapp campaign, January promo, March
sales email etc. Maximum characters: 255
How does it work?
NewZapp will add the Google Analytics Campaign Name as a query string to all the links on your email
campaigns. When a contact follows these links to your website, your Google Analytics account will then
automatically display this in your ‘Traffic Sources’ report.
Note: Turning Google Analytics ’Off’ on your Settings screen will immediately stop Google Analytics data
appearing in links clicked in sent emails, as well as any new emails that you send during the time that the feature is
turned ‘Off’.

links clicked in sent and new emails, where a Google Analytics Campaign Name was/has been set.

Why would you use it?
It will allow you to track in more depth the traffic your email marketing campaigns send to your website. You
can then use this information to improve the quality of your landing pages and to recognize if, where, and
why a contact drops off your website before goal completion.
Best practice tips
• Create a new Google Analytics Campaign Name for each campaign you send so you can track the
differences between campaigns and landing pages
• Using descriptive links in your emails can improve your click through rate
