This two-part workshop will help academies move their advisory boards to the next level. Through case studies, templates and supporting documents, participants will learn how to construct a gap analysis to determine how their advisory board can operate more effectively and efficiently.

STANDARD 2.1: ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERSHIP AND OPERATIONS

•10-20 members

• Aprox. 80% industry theme representation

•By-laws, succession plan, committees, etc…

•Strategic plan; goals and action plan

•Meets once a month for at least eight months during the year

STANDARD 2.2: SUPPORT FOR LEARNING

•Fully aware of the theme and actively engaged

•Share industry knowledge to support student outcome

•Provide structured, work-based learning experiences• career awareness, career exploration and career

preparation

STANDARD 2.3: SUPPORT FOR Academy SUSTAINABILITY

•Provide resources to ensure the stability & sustainability

•Serve as advocates for the pathway to educational, political, civic and business communities

•Academy and student level data and help develop improvement plans

• Secured human resources by involving new members or partners to sustain and grow our academy

• Secured financial resources through annual fund raising events and solicitations that support academy activities such as student scholarships

Our board members are familiar with our academy program and always recruit new members for us, telling them how great our program and students are .

Every board member is able to make a presentation about the academy, its goals and needs to their peer by February 2015.
