Known throughout the photographic, contemporary art world and certain fashion circles, photographic agent Tiggy Maconochie, whose representations have and continue to include Helmut Newton, Alice Springs, Corinne Day, Horst P Horst, Michael Roberts, Jeanloup Sieff & Mike

Figgis has diversified to create a luxury knitwear label GARZÓN. Eponymous with the small chic ghost town in Uruguay, South America, where she lives when not in Soho, London, the label reflects the

romanticism of the country.

Inspired by a dual life of the city and the ‘campo’ while trying to remain distinctly stylish and practical in two continents of differing seasons, the basis of the collection is hand made luxury knitwear using the finest natural wools available from South America. Teaming with two young fashion

designers from Montevideo, Tiggy works with Marcela Abal Acosta and Maria Ines Payssé, both with strong backgrounds in knitwear having worked with labels such as Marc by Marc Jacobs,

Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood & DKNY.

The debut collection will be the first fashion label to be both Montevideo and London based. The pieces draw on elegance and drama, include capes with horn pincers, coats, sweaters, cardigans, tasselled gilets & dresses. These will be punctuated with accessories, including a special limited edition scarf (picos) modified from the Dissertation/Thesis de Graduacion of the designers that has been exhibited internationally and included in some design books. All buttons and fastenings used are made

of natural horn or soft leather.

Renowned for high quality wool production and knitting traditions, Uruguay is the natural home for the launch of a new knitwear label to appeal to a global market while celebrating the integrity of working with wool. As a natural eco fabric to wear, GARZÓN wool acts like a second skin and lasts with care, warm when cold, cool when warm, hardly needing to be washed or dry cleaned as it naturally self cleans. The majority of the knitters GARZÓN works with are part of various co-operatives which are non profit and support culture and tradition developing sustainable economic growth within the community. These are committed to 100%

Fair Trade as members of World Fair Trade Organization.

“Working with wool and designing luxury knitwear is about slow fashion for fast world”

The development of the label will introduce ultimate luxury wools such as Guanaco, Llama and Vicuñia; rugs & skins alongside accessories including belts using artisan talabarteria (saddlers) and vintage silver formerly used

to decorate bridles, saddles and gaucho wear.

“Uruguay was once a place that I had never been, but had always known … The label GARZÓN represents this, as once you own a piece, it will

feel like it has always been in your life.”
