NYC Community Schools: Support from All Sides
School-Based SYEP Program Model
Summer work based learning experiences are offered through participating schools in partnership with a Community-Based Partner.Ø Selected students are guaranteed a placementØ 75 - 200 students enrolled / school siteØ Youth paid the prevailing minimum wage ($15/hr)Ø Program is 6 weeks in July and August Ø Students ages 14-21Ø 64 Community and CTE Schools invited for 2019

School Year Learning Component Work preparation workshops are offered during the Spring semester for 10-15 hours, including:ØResume preparation and interview practiceØFinancial empowermentØCareer exploration and the New York City economyØCollege advisement

CareerCLUE: Basics of the Model
Ø First-of-its-kind collaboration of the Office of the Mayor, NYC Department of Education, and NYC Department of Youth and Community Development
Ø Six-week blended summer enrichment program for high school students
Ø Co-taught by licensed DOE teachers from participating schools and outside content experts
Ø Offers academics, career exploration, personal development, and service learning activities
Ø Participating students earn academic credit, explore potential career interests and receive compensation
