It’s hard to believe that the second quarter is al-
ready in full swing. We had a great turn out for
Student Led Conferences last week. A BIG thanks
to the PTA for providing a delicious meal for the
staff on Wednesday night. It was awesome! If you
have not joined PTA please consider it. PTA does
so much for our schools. We have a small, but
strong group of parents that do a lot.
November is also full of lots of events as we
start basketball seasons for boys and girls middle
school and 4th/5th graders. Cheerleading will also
start this week.
Our annual Veterans Day Program will be held
on November 11th at 12:45. Bunche kindergarten-
ers will be visiting and performing during the pro-
gram. Invitations for Veterans will be sent home
soon. During the program, we will ask Veterans to
share their branch of service and years in the mili-
tary. We will have a luncheon for Veterans and
their families in the Media Center starting at
11:30.
This time of year gets very busy with Thanksgiv-
ing and the holidays coming up. Please take time
to be thankful for what we all have and encourage
your student to earn some of their service learning
hours by donating their time to a local agency that
needs help or to a neighbor that might want some
support. This is our time to give back to the com-
munity.

Thank you to all of our staff and families who participated in taking a tag from our Family Giving
Tree. Each year we adopt a family or families who could use a little extra help around the Holiday
Season. If you took a tag from the tree this year, please remember to bring in your donated item(s)
along with the tag to the main office by December 1st, 2015. If you forgot to write down your name,
phone number, and the number on your tag - please contact Mrs. Smith at 260-467-4300. This is
to ensure that we will have enough time to collect all donations/purchase needed items, wrap gifts,
and distribute items to the family before Christmas.
Tags from the Giving Tree went very quickly this year!!! If you were unable to get one in time, but
would still like to help out, here are some ideas of some items that we still need:
Wrapping paper
Bows & decorations for wrapping
Tape for wrapping gifts
Gift Labels
Snacks for students volunteering to wrap gifts
Please contact Mrs. Smith at 260-467-4300 if you would like to help. Thanks for your generosity!

MEDIA CENTER...Mr. Diederich
I would like to thank the PTA volunteers for helping me with the Book Fair. It
would be impossible to have a successful book fair without their help. Once
again the book fair was busy and outperformed expectations.
The 6-9 cluster will have “The Three Little Pigs and the Somewhat Bad
Wolf” read to them. The story follows the exploits
of the three little pigs as they build their homes
out of bricks, sticks, and straw. The somewhat
bad wolf is not your grandparents’ “big bad wolf.”
He is simply looking for something to eat and all
of the restaurants in town are closed. He is
shocked when he realizes he has the power to
knock down poorly constructed abodes. The stu-
dents will be learning about fairy tales and fables during this lesson.
The 9-12 cluster recently completed their parts of
book project, where they had to make their own book.
Over the next month the students will be working on
using the FWCS databases. The first database we will
focus on is CultureGrams. This database is used for re-
searching countries and their culture. You can also use
CultureGrams to search for state information. This is a
great resource for students to use at home. When log-
ging in from home you will need the username
(fortwayne) and password (culture).
PHYSICAL EDUCATION . . .M R . Q & M R . R E Y N O L D S

cally active lifestyle, participates in physical activities outside of school that are interesting, engaging, and personally enjoyable. MS Volleyball / Fitness unit As the warm months come to an end, I encourage you to get your child(ren) outside and take ad-vantage of the beautiful fall weather that is upon us.
Fall is finally in place and the leaves are turning colors, which means it’s getting cooler out-doors and our time is getting limited outdoors. That being said, it hasn’t stopped our gym-nasium from being filled with bodies in motion, many smiles and children who continue to learn about working and play-ing together. Mr. Reynolds (student teacher) has spent the month of October focusing on the concepts of basic locomotor skills movement. Mr. Reynolds has provided opportunities to give your child a positive PE ex-perience and to help him/her gain an appreciation of the im-portance of staying active. He has really enjoyed and has grown through this whole teaching experience here at Towles. During his final month of November, Mr. Reynolds will continue his growth experience by incorporating words like ap-preciation and gratitude as it relates to PE, which will work well with Thanksgiving coming up. As the first quarter has passed, we hope your child will have experiences in individual, team, and group activities that place an emphasis on participation, PE literacy, cooperation, and success through personal goals. We both want to remind you that our focus in PE here at Towles is to exercise daily to

National Anthem, Yankee Doodle, America the Beauti-
ful, and America and the history behind these songs.

the first 3 notes on the recorder and learn-
ing simple songs like Hot Cross Buns and
Mary Had a Little Lamb.
ART CORNER . . .MRS . TOY
Elementary students have just started using the computers and the Os-mo for one of their TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) Choices. The students have learned about Line, Shapes, Space & Forms during our study of the Elements of Art. Next we will start to learn about Color and Value.
The first period middle school class has been very busy continuing to work on their Milk Carton Constructions for the Made by Milk Contest. There will be a chance for online voting between November 20-December 11 to help win the People’s Choice category. More infor-mation will be sent home closer to that date. Advanced art students just finished creating Agamographs. These are artworks that are made up of three different images that when you rotate from side to side you can see all three images. They are currently working on building their Art Portfolios. Towards the end of the semester they will meet with guest evaluators to have a portfolio review to discuss their artwork.
Art club has started and we have been experimenting with many different projects. We have used our new cameras, made marbled paper using shaving cream and food coloring and worked on some painting projects.
SPANISH . . .M R S . S A N C H E Z
Las noticias de la clase de español (News from Spanish)
Vocabulary and Grammar - We are reviewing greetings, colors, numbers and calendar, using oral and writ-
ing activities at every grade level. Practicing spelling with new vocabulary, along with writing sentences
and paragraphs all in Spanish are more goals to accomplish for my students this month.
Our new vocabulary topics are: Los deportes (sports) and La casa
(House). We have been using technology in class (computer quiz-
zes etc.) to reinforce all of these vocabulary words that we are
learning.
Culture - The Spanish Country Report (6th grade) and The culture
of Mexico (5th grade) projects by small groups are starting their
presentations this week with excellent results!
Buen trabajo estudiantes!
Remember Spanish is fun let’s give it a try!
