SET UP

Process of a plant emerging from a seed.

STEP 1

PI – Should be working the netbook & reading directions.

RR – Make sure planning sheet is filled out!.

SI/T – Make sure everyone has on their goggles at all times.

MM – Gather these supplies

STEP 2

RR - Using a marker, write the names of each group member on the outside of the cup.

Write neatly, and use SMALL PRINT!

STEP 3MM

– Go to the supplies & put 4 teaspoons of Plaster of Paris in the paper cup.

-Add a SMALL amount of water and stir with the craft stick until the mixture looks like pancake batter.

-Throw away the craft stick!

-If you don’t know what pancake batter looks like, click the YouTube video below!

STEP 4

SI/T - Go get 4 soaked beans out of the sink!

STEP 5

EACH PERSON push a bean HALFWAY into the Plaster of Paris as shown below.

STEP 6

MM - Soak a paper towel with water and wring out the excess water.

STEP 7

SI/T - Loosely wad up the paper towel and gently place it on top of the beans in the cup.

You must keep this paper towel wet throughout the investigation.

STEP 8

RR - Place your cup on the appropriate table.

STEP 9

Draw your set up in the appropriate location in your journal.

• Remember to DRAW, COLOR, & LABEL!!!!!!

• You work needs to be neat!

• Do not draw TINY pictures. Use the space you are given!!!!!

CLEAN UP!!!!!!

PI – Exit & log off of netbook.

MM – Return all supplies.

SI/T – Wipe down table with a wipe.

RR – Hang planning sheet back on board.

PUSH UP LAB STOOL & RETURN YOUR JOURNALS TO THE TUBS!!!!
