dawn• The time each morning when daylight

first begins

Make a circle with your hands and bring it up above your head.

engine• A machine that uses energy to run

other machines

Pretend to rev up the engine on a motorcycle.

glow• shine

Wiggle your fingers in the air.

witnesswitness• to see or hear something

Use your hands to make “goggles” on your eyes.

litter• Scattered paper and other materials;

trash

Pretend to throw trash on the floor.

harvest• pick or gather

Pretend to pick an apple from a tree.

It was just after dawn as Ben listened to the engines of the racecars as they sped around the track. “The track almost glows!” Ben shouted. He was excited to witness his first race. As a car sped by him a piece of litter from the track flew in the air. Ben decided that night that he wanted to be a famous racecar driver when he grew up.
