Fishing Method

s

o Biblical times =are mentioned in a couple places in the Old Testament. Fish hooks were often called "angles," which is where the term "angler" comes from.

Today=most fishing line is made of manufactured materials like nylon. Early fishing line was made

from natural materials, including silk, flax, hair, and gut.

Antiquated Fishing Method

Early fishing hooks were made of metal, bone, and wood, but were not as strong or sophisticated as they are now. Today we have very small but strong hooks -- ancient hooks were not as small or as strong.

Kayakas Muro – ami or kayaykas is the Japanese- inspired fishing techniques that once devastated the fragile marine life of our country. through the vigorous smashing of the reef, fish are force to come out of their corals . Although banned by the Philippine Law nowadays, this brutal and separate way of fishing are still practiced secretly in Mindanao and some areas of Palawan.

Muro –Ami Fishing

known as reef-hunting, is one of the cruelest, most cataclysmic forms of illegal fishing

that destroys the coral reefs and

exploits children.

The muro-ami style of fishing with its totally

destructive effect on the reefs has contributed to the

dying of 70 percent of all reefs in

the Philippines are completely dead, unable to

regenerate.

Muro Ami fishing is knocking the coral reefs for the fishes to get out. When they do this thing the coral reefs will be destroyed causing the fishes to have loss of home. If there is no coral reefs the fishes will also have no food.

What are the effects of muro-

ami fishing?

It destroys corals which takes centuries to build.

It pollutes the water. It kills some of the fish. It disturbs the marine

ecosystem in the area. It exploits children who are

used to handle bombs and big nets.

Dynamite What is dynamite fishing?

Dynamite fishing is one of the methods of catching fish. This is an activity using an explosive device that kills many fishes and other creatures under the sea. This is also an illegal practice that is

mostly done by people who believe that this is the best way of

catching fish. dynamite fishing is done not only in the Philippines but in other parts of the world as well.

Effects of dynamite fishing

•NATURE1. Destruction of the coral

reefs.2. More endangered

marine species.

HUMAN1. Toxic to the human body2. Loss jobs

Illegal trawling fishing What is trawl fishing ?- a pass fishnet towed through the water by

a special ship, called a trawler; it is designed to catch fish such as cod, haddock, banded sea perch, and other marine life.

Bottom trawlingBottom trawling in deep oceans is causing the destruction of cold-water and deep-sea corals.

All fishing methods affect coral reefs, but destructive fishing practices are further exacerbating the pressures facing reefs around the world. Destructive fishing methods are considered to be one of the largest immediate threats to coral reef ecosystems in some countries.
