Air Heaters

Induced Draft Fans

Maintaining a good flame in a boiler is the key to a good boiler performance, this is main function of the Scanner.

Unstable flame is always a threat for boiler furnace explosion, which can

lead to a large outage of the boiler and economic loss.

FUNCTION OF SCANNER

Scanner Fan

These fans, two per boiler (100% capacity), supply requisite air for

scanner cooling.

A Soot Blower is a system for removing the Soot that is deposited on

the furnace tubes of a Boiler during combustion.

Types of soot blower:1. Wall Blower.2. Long Retractable Soot Blower (LRSB)3. Air Heater Blower.

Steam Blowing Medium :

Superheated steam is tapped from super heater for the purpose of soot blowing since capital cost of steam

pressure reducing equipment and drain is less than the cost of compressor, motors and controls of air system.

Reduced efficiency

Soot deposited on the heating surfaces of a boiler acts as a heat insulator. The result is that less heat is transferred to the water to raise steam and more heat is wasted up the chimney. This leads to

higher fuel consumption and/or poor steaming.

OPERATION

A soot blower may be operated manually or by a remotely controlled motor. The

soot, which is removed from the heating surfaces, will be blown out with the Flue

Gases. If the boiler is equipped with a dust collector, it will trap the soot.

Otherwise, the soot will be ejected into the outside air through the chimney stack.

What is draft

The term draft denotes the difference between the atmospheric pressure and the pressure existing in the furnace.
