It is considered the largest Art Deco statue in the world

It is 30 meters (98 ft) tall, not including its 8 meters (26 ft) pedestal

It weighs 635 tones

located at the peak of the 700-meter (2,300 ft) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park

Catholic priest Pedro Maria Boss requested to build a large religious monument

The statue of Christ the Redeemer with open arms, a symbol of peace

Local engineer Heitor da Silva Costa designed the statue

The statue was sculpted by the French artist Paul Landowski.

Machu Picchu is a 15th-century Inca site

located 2,430 meters (7,970 ft) above sea level

It is situated on a mountain edge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru

Often referred to as the "City of the Incas“

The Incas built the estate around 1450, but abandoned it as an official site for the Inca rulers a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest

It was unknown to the outside world before being brought to international attention in 1911 by the American historian Hiram Bingham

Since then, Machu Picchu has become an important tourist attraction

Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with polished dry-stone walls

It is possible that most of its inhabitants died from smallpox introduced by travelers

The Great Wall of China is approximately 8,851.8 km (5,500 miles)

It is the world's longest human-built structure

It is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials

It was build to protect the Chinese Empire against intrusions by various nomadic groups

Several walls were being built as early as the 7th century BC

later joined together and made bigger, stronger, and unified are now collectively referred to as the Great Wall

It starts from Hushan in the east to Jiayuguan Pass in the west traversing Liaoning, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Gansu and Qinghai.

Petra is a Greek word, meaning 'stone’

It is a historical and archaeological city in the Jordanian governorate of Mayan

And is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system

It lies on the slope of Mount Hor 

The site remained unknown to the Western world until 1812

It was introduced by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt

It was described as "a rose-red city half as old as time”

It is the capital of the Nabataeans and the center of their caravan trade

The Nebataean people conducted business  in Petra, making it an important silk and spice trade city

Chichen Itza was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya civilization

The site exhibits a huge numbers of architectural styles

Chichen Itza was one of the largest Maya cities

The ruins of Chichen Itza are federal property

The site’s stewardship is maintained by Mexico’s Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia(National Institute of Anthropology and History)

Chichen Itza is one of the most visited

archaeological sites in Mexico; an estimated 1.2 million tourists visit the ruins every year

The Colosseum is the largest amphitheatre in the world

It is an elliptical amphitheatre and is considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman engineering

Capable of seating 50,000 spectators

the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology

The amphitheatre was ringed by eighty entrances at ground level, 76 of which were used by ordinary spectators

The northern main entrance was reserved for the Roman Emperor whilst the other three axial entrances were most likely used by the elite

Spectators were seated in a tiered arrangement

First section is podium for the senatorial class who were allowed to bring their own chairs

The tier above the senators, known as the maenianum primum, was occupied by the non-senatorial noble class or knights

The next level up, the maenianum secundum, was originally reserved for ordinary Roman citizens and was divided into two sections

The lower part was for wealthy citizens, while the upper part was for poor citizens

The Taj Mahal is a white marble mausoleum 

It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal

Mumtaz Mahal, died during the birth of their 14th child, Gauhara Begum

Shah Jahan's grief illustrate the love story traditionally held as an inspiration for Taj Mahal

Throughout the complex, passages from the Qur'an are used as decorative elements

The Taj Mahal attracts a large number of tourists. UNESCO documented more than 2 million visitors in 2001, including more than 200,000 from overseas
