EYRIE unmanned aircraft While high dash speed is important, the UAV as a real-time surveillance vehicle has to operate effectively at low altitude and speed. The EYRIE has proved to be steady and manoeuvrable down to 40km/h. The rhomboid wing with ailerons, elevators, ruder and reserve power gives controllability adequate for shipboard landing in various sea conditions. The ground support equipment is compact, quick to operate and dismantling in adverse conditions. The rhomboid wing configuration is structurally a double A-frame arrangement; it is very rugged and lightweight, and capable of absorbing severe structural abuse which could never be tolerated by any conventional wing design.
Operational System The tactical-UAVs fly on pre programmed trajectories and they are in permanent radio contact with the GCS. In case of contact interruption (influence of magnetic field, difficult terrain, end of action range etc.) according to the programmed time data, the tracking station flies back as far as the radio contact is re-established. In the course of reconnaissance flight the GCS can locate and realise destinations of interest and reacts immediately by giving coordination instruction. As long as the fuel / battery last, the tracking station is known for its infinite radius of action. This air vehicle will obey its programmed coordination data even if its operational area is out of permanent radio control. In this case, video recording is taken automatically before the UAV returns to the GCS.

Design Parameters and Survivability High survivability is guaranteed by: LOW RADAR CROSS- SECTION
The EYRIE Type 220 airframe is small, is essentially free of flat surfaces, is constructed in composite materials and can accommodate Ram blankets. The radar cross-selection is estimated to be less then 0,12 sq.m. without RAM blankets.
LOW INFRA-RED SIGNATURE
The engine with exhaust or electric engine is submerged inside the fuselage with primary and secondary air cooling via low drag NASA ducts. The paint used for camouflage is IR reflecting lacquer paint. It is impossible to detect any heat with the hand held anywhere in the propeller slipstream. The IR signature at loiter is calculated to be less then 0,35 W per steradian and even less by the electric version.
LOW ACOUSTIC SIGNATURE
The engine exhaust is fitted with lightweight ejector type exhaust silencer and the propeller tip speed is low.
LOW VISUAL SIGNATURE
The EYRIE is finished in white and blue low-contrast camouflage to make visual sighting difficult. Even with cueing, the EYRIE when flying at a slant range of 700 meters is almost impossible to be detected.

STABLE FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS WITH JINKING CAPABILITY
The rhomboid wing will not stall nor drop a wing and has excellent jinxing ability by virtue of powerful ailerons, elevators and rudder. Even a ½ G turn increases the survivability probability from 0,73 to 0,93 and the EYRIE is capable of 12 G turns at low speed with a radius of turn of 60 meters.
ALL WEATHER CAPABILITY
The EYRIE is designed to operate in average winters and in high temperature climates, dusty conditions by day and by night.
COMPONENT RELIABILITY
All parts have been time-tested under varying loads, and with strict quality control, there is adequate safeguard for environmental range of temperatures, vibration, shock loads, acceleration, humidity and altitude. The materials are corrosion -resistant.

Camera Equipment and other Payloads Equipment and payloads, other than basic TV equipment, is normally provided by the Customer. This sub-section has been included to indicate the type of payloads which can be physically accommodated in the EYRIE Type 220 airframe. There is ample space (0.6m³) and payload allocation, not less then 45kg and as high as 82kg if endurance is reduced.

The EYRIE UAV System Characteristics
MULTI- MISSION CAPABILITY – the high payload weight of 68kg
(149 lb ) , the large payload nosecone volume of 0,60 m³ ( 10,6 cu.ft ) plus the availability of miniaturized TV sensors and miniaturized ECM equipment makes the EYRIE Type 220 air vehicle suitable for multi-mission operations.
HIGH COMBINED FUEL AND PAYLOAD WEIGHT – Fuel and
payload may be traded to some extent, depending upon the mission.
LOW LOITER SPEED – the low loiter speed of 55 km/h is desirable for
target acquisition and identification.
STABLE FLIGHT – the diamond wing will not stall nor drop a wing and
acts to provide a stabile platform for the TV sensors and rockets.
HIGH MOBILITY – particular attention has been paid to system mobility –
to high speed road transportation, to quick deployment of the system, rapid fuelling and pre flight check; in the recovery mode, for quick recovery and stowage of the air vehicle and ribbon net, as well as to the self- containment of the whole system.
EASE OF MAINTENANCE – a test/
maintenance shelter is provided and access panels on the air vehicle are quick release fasteners. Similarly the payload nosecone is fastened with quick- release latches enabling different ECM packages to be pre- fitted into separate nosecone and for changing within seconds from one set of nosecone to another; and for defective payloads to be changed rapidly.
LOW COST FORCE MULTIPLIER – the small force in men and
vehicles, the multi- mission roles, the low cost airframe and the ability to operate away from base for extended periods, make for an effective low cost force multiplier.

Three TV CAMERA VIEWING – the EYRIE Type 220 is probably
unique in having 3 TV cameras- one forward looking for Pilot- navigation and strike, one downward looking for terrain over-viewing and one downward/ sideways/ zoom looking for detail analysis.
