1.2 Read these documents This section contains a brief description of the documents required during the Experion installation. The other documents such as the Experion HS R410 Software Installation User’s Guide and the Experion HS R410 Migration User’s Guide can be printed depending on your requirement.
Experion HS R410 Software Change Notice (SCN) The Experion HS R410 SCN (this document) provides:
• Information on new functions in the release and the problems resolved with this release.
• Information on the known issues with the release, software component versions, and firmware revisions.
• Details of any important changes from the previous release, special considerations in installation or migration, and any last-minute documentation updates.
Experion HS R410 Software Installation User’s Guide The Experion HS R410 Software Installation User’s Guide provides general procedures for installing the R410 Experion software on a “clean” system.
Experion HS R410 Migration User’s Guide With Experion HS R410, a single migration guide is maintained for the procedures that are performed for different migration paths. Experion HS R410 Migration User's Guide explains the procedures for migrating:

Install only Honeywell recommended Microsoft Security Updates. For Honeywell recommended Microsoft security updates, go to the Honeywell Process Solutions website, at https://www.honeywellprocess.com/en-US/explore/products/control-monitoring-and-safety-systems/modular-control-systems/Pages/experion-hs.aspx.
Do not install any updates that are not qualified by Honeywell.
1.4 Supported migration paths The following are the migration paths supported in this release of Experion HS.

1.5 About the Software Protection Key (Dongle) Securing the Dongle
• Physically secure your server so that the dongle cannot be removed.
• Run a USB cable from the motherboard of the node to the dongle and store the dongle inside the server.
• The dongles have a hole at the end. Secure the dongle with cable tied to the chassis of the node.
Impact of a missing dongle or a damaged dongle • The server software stops after the dongle has been missing for 60 minutes.
• From the moment the dongle is missing, an alarm is raised every 5 minutes stating “Copy Protection | MISSING | Replace Key within XX minutes”. The alarms stop when the dongle is replaced.
• The first alarm appears within a minute of the dongle being missing from the system. After 60 minutes, the final alarm indicates “Copy Protection | MISSING | Stopping Server” and the Experion services stops at this point.
• In a redundant server system, if a dongle on the primary server is damaged, at the end of 60 minutes, the server is shutdown automatically and a failover to the backup server happens.

3. What is new in HS R410
3.1 Support for Microsoft Windows 7 Professional This release of Experion HS includes the support for Windows 7 Professional Edition (64-bit) English version Operating System for Experion servers and clients.
3.2 Support for Microsoft Office 2013 (32-bit) This release of Experion HS also includes the support for Microsoft Office 2013 (32-bit).
3.3 Support for MS Sql Server 2008 R2 SP2 Slip Stream MS Sql Server 2008 R2 SP2 Slip Stream is installed on Experion servers. This installation impacts key areas of operation such as installation and migration. Security is also enhanced with SQL Server 2008.
3.4 Enhancements to MasterLogic Server Enhancements to MasterLogic Server in this release of Experion HS are:
• Improved MasterLogic Server logging mechanism. Refer to the MasterLogic Server User's Guide, for details on configurations.
• Support for DISOE.
• Support for 8050 PLC points.
• Support for 64 – bit OS platform.
3.5 Enhancements to HC 900 The following enhancements are made to the HC900 Universal Modbus Interface:
• Enhancement to the addressing range for the HC900 Universal Modbus Interface to allow access to 32k addresses using a single virtual controller.

3.6 Support for Redirection Manager Redirection Manager (RDM) provides high availability and reliability of OPC client connections to OPC servers. The RDM enables OPC clients to transparently redirect requests to an alternate OPC server. Redirection occurs whenever RDM detects a failure in the active server of a configured primary OPC server and secondary OPC server pair. OPC clients that require redirection must connect to the RDM instead of connecting to the primary OPC server.

3.7 Support for IKB and OEP keyboards This release of Experion HS provides support for Integrated keyboard (IKB) and Operator Entry Panel (OEP) keyboard
3.8 Support for virtualization In this release, virtualization deployment is achieved using VMware vSphere 5.0. update 1. For managements nodes vCenter Server 5.0 is required. Both redundant and non-redundant topologies are supported for virtualization deployment. You need to procure a VMware license, to deploy Experion HS in a virtualized environment.

3.9 Station and Server enhancements DNP3 interface enhancements
Various enhancements to the DNP3 SCADA interface have been made, in particular:
• Improved communication overload handling.
• Support for frozen counters and frozen analog inputs.
• Ability to specify port numbers for Ethernet communications.
• Ability to configure separate class polling, unsolicited and time synchronization settings for Link B.
• DNP3 class polling statistics.
• Support for redundant links that are not fully independent of each other.

• Ability to force a data value update from the controller through an integrity poll.
HMIWeb Display Builder validation Validates the user’s displays and reports any error information. Has the ability to correct the errors and save the display.
Can be used either online or offline.
Also provides the ability through a bulk analysis tool to validate a list of displays and analyze the performance for all.
Tabbed displays in Station HMIWeb tabbed displays are an optional server-wide setting available for Station.
Operators can call up displays in individual tabs within a Station window in either an existing tab or in a new tab, and can then move between displays by clicking on the tab of the display they want to view.
The tab of a point detail display and any custom display that is associated with an alarm group shows an alarm icon to indicate the most important alarm on that display.
Visual display improvements As part of the R410 release, the system displays have gone through a systematic process of alignment to a common streamlined style. These changes were principally cosmetic to improve visual clarity and consistency across the product while minimizing any risk of functional degradation. These changes include the following:
• Modernization of controls – combo boxes, alphanumeric fields, indicators, buttons.
• Modernization of icons, including for the Station toolbar.
• Streamlined visual treatment of headings, grouped content, and table formats to improve clarity and scalability.
• Improved consistency between .dsp and HMIWeb (.htm) pages.
• Application of system-wide style sheets and new inline styles across all system displays.
• Alignment and spacing of controls in general to improve visual consistency.
• Standardized page backgrounds to improve page appearance and scaling for supported display resolutions.

3.10 Support for non-redundant to redundant server conversion Prerequisites
Following are the perquisites to convert a non-redundant server to a redundant server.
• The non-redundant server’s name must be the base name for the redundant pair. For example, if the non-redundant server is called “hssvr”, then the redundant pair must be known as “hssvrb” (changed from hssvr). The other redundant server (hssvra) must be newly installed.
• The redundant pair must have the same hardware and software configuration.
• You must have appropriate Redundant license.
The non-redundant to redundant server conversion consists of the following steps:
• Naming the Servers
• Changing computer names
• Turning server B into a redundant server
Naming the Servers While changing the server names, ensure the following:
For Server B:
The original single server must be converted to Server B and the original name of the server must be retained and appended with a ‘b’. That is, ‘hssvr’ must become ‘hssvrb’.
For Server A:
The same naming convention of Server B must also be followed Server A, and the server name must end with an ‘a’. That is, the sever name must be‘hssvra’.

Changing computer names Computer naming conventions:
• All the Experion nodes (for example, Experion server, and Flex Station computers, and so on.) must have a unique name and IP address.
Basic naming restrictions:
There are basic restrictions when changing the name of computers, which are:
• The computer name should be 15 characters in length.
• The computer name must begin with an alphabetic character, such as a to z, or A to Z.
• The computer name cannot contain spaces or other non-standard characters.
• The last letter of the computer name is restricted for redundant servers:
o Primary Experion server computer names must end with the letter A.
o Secondary Experion server computer names must end with the letter B.
To change computer names, perform the following steps.
Step Action
1 Change the computer name using Windows from <ServerName> to <ServerNameB>.
2 Restart the computer.
3 Log on to the Experion node as a user who is part of both the Administrators and the Product Administrators group.
4 Go to the Experion PKS Services Control Panel at:
<install_drive>\Program Files (x86)\Honeywell\Experion PKS\Utilities\ SSServices\SSServices.exe.
5 Stop all Services using the Experion PKS Services Control Panel.

Step Action
6 After the services are stopped, open up the MS Services snap-in and then restart the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER).
7 Open a Command Prompt, as an Administrator.
8 Run the command ‘hscconfig /rename <old computer name>’.
Wait for the process to complete.
9 Close the cmd window and then restart the computer.
10 After restarting, perform the following:
a) Log on to the Experion node as a user who is part of both the Administrators and the Product Administrators group.
b) Start Configuration Studio and then open Quick Builder.

To update the hosts file, perform the following steps.
Step Action
1 In a text editor application, such as Notepad, open the hosts file located at:
%WINDIR%\system32\drivers\etc\.
2 Locate each of the old computer names and then change them to new computer names.
If a computer name is appended with the numbers 0 or 1, retain the numbers and the replace the remainder of the computer name.
3 Save the changes to the hosts file.
4 Copy the updated hosts file to the %WINDIR%\system32\drivers\etc\ folder, of each node on your Experion system.
Note: A copy of the updated hosts file must reside on all computers on the Experion system.

4.1 Distributed System Architecture (DSA) The following are the considerations for configuring DSA between Experion HS R410 and Experion PKS server.
• Experion HS server must be configured only to publish data to Experion PKS server.
• Experion HS server must be added as an external server in Experion PKS server.
• Experion HS R410 can communicate only with Experion PKS R310, R311, R400 and R410 releases.
4.2 Firmware information for MasterLogic Experion HS R410 is compatible with the following MasterLogic components:
