The Value of Innovation

2-Ram Series

Value vs. Purchase Price

Purpose of this PowerPoint ? To demonstrate what makes Excel Balers more

valuable than lower priced competitor’s balers.

We will show Excel’s:– Pioneering Construction Techniques– Innovative Engineering Design– Quality components– Complete System Design– Benchmark Safety

Excel 2R Series Interlocking Construction

• 1” thick solid plate floor (2R9-¾”) completely tabbed and cut to accept Excel’s interlocking components

• Main cylinder mount

Interlocking Construction

¾” side plate drops into ¾” or 1” floor interlocks with interlocking side brace.

Top plate interlocks with bottom, side and main mount.

Excel 2R Series Interlocking Construction

Chassis interlocks together distributing stress through the interlocked components, as well as, spreading it over twice the welded area.

Excel 2R Series Interlocking Construction

Competitor’s 10” 2 Ram

Competitor’s non-interlocking design causes welds to bear the entire stress load.

Excel Interlocked Reinforcing Bulkheads

Bulkheads and stringers reinforce both the baling chamber and sidewalls.

Competitor’s Non-Reinforced Chassis Walls

Excel Interlocked Mid-Mounted Cylinder

Piston is near center of mounting bracket when shearing

Cylinder is extended to near weakest point when shearing

Piston stop prevents full extension

Excel Interlocked Mid-Mounted Cylinder

Competitor’s Trunion Mounted Cylinder

Competitor’s main cylinder mounts rely on welds alone.

Tank

Regenerative Hydraulics

Exhaust fluid is wasted

Recycled exhaust fluid dramatically increases cylinder speed

Pump

Pump

Regen

Standard

Regenerative Hydraulics

Excel twin rear hose design allows double the fluid flow into rear of cylinder during regen phase. Competitors use single line to each end.

Internal Transducer & Rear Serviceable Cylinder

• Liner Transducers completely sealed inside the cylinder with no exposed moving parts to break or maintain.

– Monitors ram location within 1/10 of a inch– Supplies data to PCl for bale averaging, bale stuck, and shear jam

correction.• Cylinder is accessible and completely serviceable without having

to remove from the baler

External Limit/Proximity Switches

Competitor’s conventional method of monitoring cylinder movement using external proximity/limit switches is prone to damage from debris and material handling equipment.

Competitor’s cylinder cannot be serviced without disassembly of chassis.

Weight Where it Counts

Average competitor’s 2-Ram

Shipping Weight = 52,000 lbs.

Excel’s 2-Ram

Shipping Weight = 58,000 lbs.

Double-duty Sheer Blades

Sheer Blades rotate for double life.

Innovative Shearing Design

• 4340 hardened separated shear blades cut the material over a span of a few inches while helping centering the ram.

• Competitor’s bias mounted shear blades push the ram to one side of the chamber, resulting in greater wear to the chamber and ram.

Baler Engineered for Wire-tier

The mounting edge on the front of the baler is angled, which reduces the amount of debris that accumulates in the tracks of the wire tier. This also keeps the wire strait on the bale.

Baler Engineered for Wire-tier

• Notice how the wire at the bottom of the bale is closer to the side, this limits how close to the edge a wire can be placed

Baler Engineered for Wire-tier

• Protective guard prevents material from rebounding and hitting critical components of the wire-tier.

• Competitor typically leaves wire-tier unguarded.

Organized hydraulic and electrical systems

• Submerged pumps– No dry Start up

time which increases life of pump.

– Quieter because pumps are submerged.

– Neat and organized.

Field Serviceability

• Hoses are used where applicable to minimize the number of leak points– 5,000 PSI hoses with

5:1 burst/safety factor.• All hoses are common

construction and demolition equipment sizes to allow mobile hydraulic service utilizing common industrial and construction fittings and hoses.

Field Serviceability

Competitors Steel tubing may cost less, but creates 35 possible leak and fatigue

crack points and is not easily serviced.

Field Serviceability

• Service Friendly Features– Nut keepers to

help hold nuts in places that are hard to reach.

– Modem included in electrical box for factory direct hook up.

Top of the line Components

• Allen Bradley and other best in class electrical components are precision wired for ease of service and troubleshooting.

Turn key Conveyors

• Seamless integration with the baler for a fully automatic system• Requires no field wiring beyond main service• All safety stops and lockouts are engineered and factory installed• Fully replaceable Hardox 400 wear liners on both belt and

chassis . Steel on steel !• Transition hoppers are engineered, painted and shipped

complete• Complete with painted pit plates, and all anchor bolts requiring no

millwright fabrication on site

Complete bailing system
