What kind of media institution may distribute your

media product and why?

Evaluation Question 3

This is the company name and logo for Vortex Productions. After brainstorming a variety of different company names, we chose to use this name as we wanted to incorporate our own unique name and logo into so it looked professional. The circle design meant it was easy to place in corners of coursework and also it looks neat. Overall, we wanted to keep our logo simple, yet eye-catching.

Our Production Company

A production company helps to create a film. From the very beginning of the production, the production company look over everything to make sure that everything is running smoothly.

They mainly deal with budgeting, casting, scripting and scheduling. However, they are also in charge of making sure that their actors don’t get injured and equipment does not get damaged or broken

Production companies also manage the budged to make sure that it doesn’t exceed the limit that was set and are in charge of all of the legal issues.

What does a production company do?

A distributor’s main job is to send out the final product so that people are able to watch it. The distributor must also promote the film along with deciding where it will be shown.

A distribution company that I felt would be a good company to promote our film would be Universal Pictures.

I chose Universal Pictures as they have a wide fan base and has had a lot of success in the past, releasing films that have broken box office records.

Distribution

Universal Pictures also release films of the action genre, which was why I saw it as one of the most suitable distribution companies for my production.

The company is known all around the world, and people are more likely to watch the film if they know it was distributed by Universal Pictures, due to its high reputation

Distribution (cont.)

As we would have to have a budget in order to make our film, our main method that we could possibly use is we could pitch our film idea to a film company. We could do this as if they were satisfied with our production and believed that we could created a successful film that would make a lot of profit.

In order to promote our film, our main method would be to have a trailer shown in cinemas. This could create buzz around our production before it’s released.

We could also create merchandise. For example, we could work in conjunction with fast food chains and create toys that come with meals

Promotion & Money

The titles that we used in our opening sequence were all displayed within the first minute and twenty seconds. The titles which we chose to include were the company name and the different job roles which we had set out based on rating of importance. Each title had the same font, Typograph Pro in the colour white.

We chose to do this as we wanted to make sure that each title used was clear and obvious to the audience as we did not want the footage in the background to cause the titles to become unnoticeable.

We also wanted to use a continuous font throughout the entire sequence, keeping it simple. Each titles was displayed for approximately 4 seconds so that the audience had enough time to read them.
