2.1.4 Creating and Allocating LUN Groups (Setting Host Affinity Groups)

Create a LUN group (Host Affinity Group) for the server to access.Define the relationship between the server to be connected to the iSCSI port of the ETERNUSDisk storage system and the created Host Affinity Group. This sets access restrictions to theETERNUS Disk storage system from each server.See "Set Host Affinity" of "ETERNUSmgr User Guide" for details.

2.1.5 Setting CHAP Authentication

The ETERNUS Disk storage system supports the use of CHAP authentication. This sectiondescribes the procedure for setting CHAP authentication in the ETERNUS Disk storage system. This setting can be omitted.

Procedure

1 Click the [Connectivity] tab under the main menu.

2 Select [Host iSCSI Registration] from the [Connectivity] on the left side of the screen.

3 Click the [Register...] button on the right side of the screen.

4 Specify the iSCSI information of the server to be added, User name, and Password on the displayed [Host iSCSI Registration] screen, and click the [Add] button.Specify the User name and Password of the server to be connected within the followingrange.

• If the one-to-one relationship between IP addresses and LAN cardscannot be determined, the Host Affinity Group settings may not beperformed correctly. In this case, try various settings until the server is able to recognize theETERNUS Disk storage system logical disks.

• When the server OS is HP-UX, Windows®, Linux, or VMware ESX,assign Host Affinity Groups starting from LUN0 in ascending order. Theserver cannot recognize the ETERNUS Disk storage system LUNsunless they are assigned in this order. This restriction does not apply when the server is running a Solaris OS.

• When setting a LUN that has the same configuration for multiple iSCSIpaths for recognition, define the same Host Affinity Group.

To set CHAP authentication, set "CHAP authentication" to "ON" in advanceaccording to "2.1.1 Setting the To-server Connection Type (Setting the PortParameters)" (page 11). To set bidirectional CHAP authentication, specify auser name and password for the iSCSI port in advance.

• User nameUp to 255 alphanumeric characters can be used.

• PasswordBetween 12 and 16 alphanumeric characters can be used if a LAN card is used as theserver adapter.Between 12 and 100 alphanumeric characters can be used if an iSCSI HBA is used asthe server adapter.

5 Click the [OK] button.

End of procedure

2.2 OS Specific Settings

Some settings are not required for some OSes and/or connection configurations.Check the various cases described below, and perform any required settings.

2.2.1 Setting the Port Reset Groups

If the system configuration matches any of the items "System configuration that requires the portreset group setting" in the following table, every ETERNUS Disk storage system iSCSI port thatconnects to the given server's access paths must be assigned to the same port reset group. For system configurations other than the following, use the default settings.

*1: For a Windows Server® 2008 or Windows Server® 2008 R2 based WSFC configuration, the portreset group settings are not necessary.

*2: When multiple ESX servers share ETERNUS Disk storage system LUNs, any ETERNUS Disk storagesystem iSCSI port that connects a shared LUN to an ESX server must be assigned to the same portreset group, whether multi-paths are used for the ESX servers or not.

If an iSNS server with the server iSCSI name registered does notexist in the network, the [Refresh] button cannot be used. When the iSNS server does not exist, enter the server iSCSIinformation manually.

If the server iSCSI settings have already been performed, select theserver iSCSI name on the right side of the screen in Step 3, click the[Modify] button, and specify the user name and password on the[Host iSCSI Registration] screen.

2.2.2 Setting the Sub System Parameters (for HP-UX only)

For HP-UX connection, select the [Disable load balance] checkbox of the "Set Sub SystemParameters" screen. This prevents sense responses that require access retries from beingissued when the ETERNUS Disk storage system is in an overload state.
