Starting PointIn Aug 2012, GG found a clinical protocol driven weight loss program that helped him lose 68 lbs, reverse the diabeties and high cholesterol trends.
GG used the BMI chart as the motivational tool to stay on the diet. Albeit, there is no way for GG to coordinate his blood sugar trends with his physician.
Imagine if this chart could overlay blood glucose and blood pressure trends on top of the weekly BMI graph…

Systematic Problem• US healthcare system is designed for treating sick people. • Neither the providers nor the patients have the tools or
training to stay out of the hospitals.• Even if the clinicians can identify a care path, there are
challenges:• Patient Adherence (should I continue doing x?)• Socioeconomic factors make the care path void

GG is Not Alone
Nearly 24 million Americans have diabetes. Of these people living with diabetes, about 18 million have been diagnosed, and about 6 million do not know they have it (1).

Current Market Challenges• We have credit scores that acts as an incentive for doing the
right things, financially. There is no “FitScore” for individuals that encourages individuals to take care of themselves.
• There is no way for GG to weigh himself at home and overlay the blood glucose data.
• There is no way for GG to send the weekly weight in data to his physician and review the LDL.
• There is no way for GG to know what is the impact of his meals on his weight, his blood sugar.
• There is no way for GG to know what is the impact of him missing his workout.
• There is no marketplace for negotiating insurance premium based on an individual’s health. (Although some employers are encouraging their employees to be well).

Opportunity• What if we could let the patient connect their medical devices and life style
applications and upload their data to a secure location (that they control)?• What if we could use technology to provide instant feedback to individuals
based on their behavior? • What if this data could be used to generate automatic alerts & notifications to
physician for chronic disease management?• What if we can feed social media where patients with similar conditions can get
support?• What if we could provide a Equifax style services to business and consumers?• What if the patient could decide who can view their “FitScore” and wellness
report?• What if the employers could use “FitScore” to negotiate their insurance cost
with the healthcare providers and payers?• What if the individuals could use their “FitScore” to negotiate a better life
insurance policy?• What if the patients could decide if they want to help in pharmaceutical
research to treat specific condition?

Vision & Mission• Create an eco-system in the cloud that can support
applications for patient wellness. • Equifax of health and wellness (B2B and B2C services)• Mint.com for health and wellness (B2C services) – Behavior
analytics.

Meet FitScore IP• Building first mobile
application• Establish a beachhead with a
recognized weight loss program (2.5 Million active members across the globe).
• Get consumer enrollment• Automate the food journal
required by the protocol.• Open a digital communication
channel between the weight loss clinic and the patient.
• Present the BMI trend to the patient.
• Add Blood Glucometer support in second sprint.

Consumer Is The Key• Start with consumer enrollment• Build a mobile application for automating Ideal Protein weight loss
program. • Enroll IP patients in HealthVault accounts, overlay weight loss data with
blood glucose and blood pressure data.• Spiral out to other weight loss programs e.g. Weight Watchers, Jenny
Craig, 20/20• Build an application for TV• Bring patient care to patient’s home
• Backend Intelligence• Predictive analytics – which patients are at highest risk and should be
treated differently?• Trend analysis – what food, lifestyle patterns hurt patient X?• Alerts & Notification – alert the case manager in physician’s office when
patient X is out of normal range (proactive disease management)

Hidden In Plain Sight• There is a ubiquitous piece of technology in our homes that
has been vastly ignored. • AT&T Uverse, Comcast, DirectTV, Dish Network, Xbox have one
thing in common, Mediaroom. All the IPTV boxes already have USB ports.
• This allow us to exploit existing technologies for data collection and customer interaction.
