Imports
India is highly dependent on import of crudeoil.
70% of its crude oil requirements and part of
the petroleum products is met from importsNet imports of crude oil have increased from
99.41MTs during 2005-06 to 184.80 MTs during
2012-13.
The export of petroleum products has
increased from a 23.46 MT during 2005-06 to

Indias Refining Capacity
India produced 37.8 million tonnes of crude oil during 2013-14Two-thirds of the oil produced in India's is drilled from offshore
fields
When RIL and RPL announced a merger of the two companies
this made the company the one of the largest largest oil refiner
in the world
Indian Oil, India's second largest oil refining company, is ranked
19th globally
India exported over 59 MMT of petroleum products valued atRs 1.96 trillion.
India's oil refining capacity amounted to 215 MMTPA (Million
Metric Tonne Per Annum) in Apr 2014 placing India in the fifth
position in the world after the United States, China, Russia andJapan
