Government Official Statement

• “From 2016, any tenant or their representatives asking for their landlord’s consent to make reasonable energy efficiency improvements cannot be refused. From 2018, the rental of the very worst performing properties – those rated F and G – will be banned through a minimum energy efficiency standard.”

• Chris Huhne MP, 10 May 2011, Energy Act 2011

• The Government are currently in consultation regarding a minimum energy efficiency standard for private rented homes from 2018

• The energy efficiency rating of a property is determined by carrying out an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) by a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA)

• The draft regulations currently out for consultation proposes that the impact this will have on your property portfolio is that any rented accommodation with an energy rating of F and G will no longer be suitable for renting 2018/2020
