ministries in public and talk to anyone face to face…same holds true in social media)– Tweet a simple melody – not a symphony– Share the Love, Honestly (give credit)– Follow the rules (Diocesan Social Media Policy)

What could we do to promote interest in our pages?
• Facebook can be used for the following:– Provide links to resources online– Post questions / Gather feedback – Post photos (with the proper ok)– Promote upcoming events– Engage Catholics and non-Catholics to dialogue
together– Use it as a ministry tool to encourage those that
may be discouraged– Communicate with youth
• How do you use Facebook?
• Things to know:• 140 – the maximum number of characters
allowed in a tweet.• @ before a Twitter name to mention someone• # (hashtag) – could be a theme of the tweet.• RT = “retweet” (giving someone credit)• Need to put a link – use http://tinyurl.com/
• Twitter can be used for the following:– Allows for two way communicating, enabling conversations,
collaboration and networking– Use their privacy settings to manage who will see your
updates– Ability to send urgent prayer requests, meeting changes, etc.– Great way to remind those about a ministry deadline or
project– Use Twitter to share Bible verses and daily devotionals
(retweet verses from @Daily_Bible)– Follow people to receive up to date information.– Shorten your web link through http://tinyurl.com/

• YouTube is part of Google – but you do not need to get a Gmail or Google account to use YouTube.
