MOOD
In the low mood, the
mere man acts alone,
Moved by impulses
which, if from within,Yet far outside the center
man begin
But in the grand mood,
every softest tone
Come form the living God
at very heart-
From thee who infinite
core of being art,
Thee who didst call our
names ere ever we
would sin.
We all have moods.
Sometimes everything
looks dark, and we hardly
know why. We get up in
the morning and wonder
why we can t s ing .
Nothing really bad has
happened to us but we
are gloomy.
Fortunately God has not
commanded that we have
one mood or another, He
knows we have our ups
and downs. He knowsour f rame , says a
psalmist, he remembers
that we are dust. We
have fears and anxieties
when at the moment there
is nothing to be afraid of.
Of course, as the hymn
writers say, we walk in
danger all the way. But
we also walk with God all
the way. If we let our
minds imagine all the
possible things that could
go wrong, we will live
constantly with fear.
But God wants to give us
the grand mood. He
doesnt want us to probe
into our own minds and
hearts to find it, nor into
the world around us. He
wants us to keep our eyes
on him. Remember that
Peter began to sink whenwalking towards Jesus on
the Sea of Galilee; he took
his eyes off Jesus to look
at the billowing waves
around him.
And what do we see when
we focus on
Jesus? We see a Lord
who loves us so much that
he died on a cross for us.
We see a God who, from
our mothers arm, has
blessed us on our way.
Surely goodness and
mercy shall follow me all
of the days of my life (Ps.
23:6).
Wishing you all a blessed
New Year!
May our good God blessyou all,
With prayerful regards,
Mothy Achen

v37David said, TheLord, who saved me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the
bear, will save me from the hand of this Philistine. So Saul said to David, Go, and may
theLordbe with you!
Modern day Christians face a difficult time explaining and understanding the importance of
spirituality in a Christ centered life. It seems we are experts in becoming Goliaths of our
education, finances, families, and physical fitness but fall short of the greatness God has really
intended for us.
Spirituality takes trust. From a young age, David understood and knew that God was in control
of his life and that only when he put his trust in the Lord, could he be certain that victory would
be his. David trusted that God would be there for him when he needed it the most even when
his leaders doubted to see Gods protection. How many of us rely on our own strength to
sustain ourselves rather than submit to God? Do we have the trust that this shepherd boy had?
Spirituality takes action. Here we see that no one was willing to fight the giant except a boy
without any war experience. Goliath may have never fallen if David did not act on his spirituality
knowing that God would watch over and guide his sling. Many of us still face the same Goliaths
day after day and feel like there is nothing to do. Instead of submitting our battles to the Lord,
we are just like the Israelites who sit and allow the Philistines to have their way. Only when you
act and trust in the Lord can your spirituality be meaningful.
Spirituality takes preparation and recognition. David was placed in the Kings own armor and
given the finest weapons that money could by. However, David decided to trust not in his sword,
but rather in the Lord. David recognized that there was a problem that needed to be solved. In
the most epic of battles between men,David recognized that his strength was from the Lord
and not from man-made garments. No opposing human or force caneven stand against the
Lord.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, Help us to trust in you, act for you, prepare for you, and always recognize that
everything we have is from you. Help us to face injustice as David did and to never back down
for your glory. In Jesus name.Amen
