Objectives

• Study of structural dynamics theories

• Modeling of structures for finite element analysis using SAP2000 and studying the behavior under earthquake loading

• Introducing of earthquake releases

How does an earthquake affect a building?

Earth quake …

Act in all direction

Make tension, shear, compression and bending forces to the building

Cause to make lateral distortionBuilding must be stiff against horizontal forces

In modern buildings

Steel frame Concrete frame

• Moment resistant frame

• Diagonal bracing

• Shear walls

• Cross wall

• Isolators

Doing the Engineering design, with model testing is not economical , time consuming and difficult to get accurate results

This can be done easily with SAP2000

How to introduce earthquake releases

Our trials are for

1.Moment resistant frame (five storey frame)

2.Two storey building with rubber isolators

3.Four storey building with shear walls

First stage

Second stage20-story building which was already designed
