Downhole Sucker Rod PumpsThroughout the United States, Eastern Europe and Central
Asia, you will find thousands of Cameron’s downhole pumps
installed. Necessary to operate a rod lift system, downhole
pumps have two major components — a plunger assembly
and a barrel assembly. Cameron manufactures both assemblies
in-house, assuring the Cameron-standard high
level of quality.
Rod lift is the most common form of artificial lift, known for its
easy operation and low maintenance requirements. Cameron’s
renowned reputation for high quality and service is exemplified
through its rod lift systems that are API 11AX and 11B certified,
then serviced through the CAMSERV™ network.
Insert PumpsAn insert-type downhole pump is attached to the sucker rod
string and locks down into the seating nipple assembly at the
bottom of the tubing. An advantage of the insert-type pump is
that it can be easily maintained by pulling only the sucker rod
string. Cameron offers two types of insert pumps, those with a
traveling barrel and those with a stationary barrel.
Traveling Barrel – This option for insert pumps includes a
moving barrel assembly and a static plunger assembly. The
configuration is most useful in wells with a significant amount
of “trash”, including sand.
Stationary Barrel – Contrary to the traveling barrel, the
stationary version does not move. Instead, the plunger assembly
moves up and down with the motion
of the pumping unit.
Tubing PumpsA tubing-type pump is typically used to achieve higher
production rates. The barrel assembly attaches to the end of
the tubing string and the plunger assembly attaches to the
sucker rod string.
Barrel AssembliesAll processes are closely monitored at the Iola, Kansas,
manufacturing facility and are in accordance with all of
Cameron’s HSE and quality assurance policies.
Cages and FittingsCages and fittings are manufactured in a
variety of materials to match specific well
conditions. Hard-lined and four-piece
insert-guided cages are available.
Balls and SeatsThe quality of balls and seats is the backbone of the sucker
rod pump, as they are constantly in use during the pumping
cycle. That is why we emphasize the importance of API 11AX
certification, as well as the fact that they are
manufactured by experienced personnel with
an average experience level of over 10 years.
Plunger AssembliesPlunger assemblies are available in both spray metal
and soft-pack types. Spray metal types have pin-end plungers
with a hardness of Rc 49-60 and a Thermospray™ hard-surfaced
coating to resist both abrasion and corrosion. Soft pack types
come in a variety of configurations for multiple field conditions.
Cameron’s downhole sucker rod pumps are part of a uniquely
packaged rod lift system and are designed to meet a variety
of well and production requirements. With this system you
get what you expect with any Cameron product or service –
reliability, quality and performance – from both equipment
and personnel.
