Hello Orcas!
School has started and it is
time to start getting into the
swing of things once again but
don’t forget about serving
your home, school, and
community! Take advantage
of all the back to school
events to fundraise for
Pediatric Trauma Program
especially since Fall Rally is
coming up soon on November
15th!
Remember to turn in your dues
that have increased to $11.50
(may vary depending on the
club). Bring a friend to a
meeting and make it more fun
for you a well as introducing
them to the amazing club
known as Key Club! Let’s make
this year a year to remember!
Splashing in service,
Erica Bui

Relay for Life @ Oxnard
HS By: Angeline Hsu, Oxnard
Attending the Kiwanis
Pancake Breakfast for the
Relay for Life event was
truly an exciting and
inspirational event. At the
event, we helped serve
breakfast to those who
spent their weekend raising
awareness and fundraising
for others in need. It was
amazing to see so many
people come out to
support an amazing cause.
Even though our time
volunteering at this event
was short, it was a great
event and I am glad that I
took part in it.

Oxnard Salsa Festival By: Kathryn Tan, Oxnard
The Salsa Festival was a great and fun experience. There was so many people there
and I’ve never seen downtown Oxnard filled with so many people. Some went out of their way and came
from outside of Ventura County. This was my first year
volunteering at the Salsa Festival as well as attending.
Volunteering at the Salsa Tasting tent, I arranged tickets and chips in a tray for people
to sample. The people I worked with were really
outgoing and friendly and it was a great experience to
meet new people each time at the tent. The time flew by fast but after four hours, it
was over and I will definitely be doing this again next year!

Channel Islands
Beach Social On July 26, 2014, Channel Islands Key Club had a beach social at
Port Hueneme Beach where games and activities were held. The members enjoyed playing badminton and volleyball. Others also enjoyed the beach while soaking their feet near the shore. After the fun games, the members and officers gathered to eat pizza, chips, and other snacks that the members have brought in. Near the end of the social some members of Key Club and outside of
Key Club donated one dollar to "pie" an officer for Project Eliminate. –Mariel Nario, Channel Islands

Channel Islands
Beach Social Channel Islands had an amazingly fun event at Port Hueneme
Beach Park, Beach Social 2014. The officers coordinately planned and prepared this event mainly for prospective members and
eliMiNaTe project. It was a chance for all of us to bond and get to know each other well, and of course, to introduce Key Club and
gain knowledge of what we do as Key Clubbers. Although everyone was busy and having idyllic summer, they couldn't resist attending Key Club for a good cause. The event was carried to the utmost point of fun by food, badminton, volleyball, and of course, "pieing" the officers including our LTG Erica Bui. It was a
pleasure to have her in our special event. That being said, all the collected money proceed towards the eliMiNaTe Project. Because of this event, everyone had helped to save lives; we had recruited
and united volunteers and future leaders. -Venice Faye Torres, Channel Islands
