Let’s take the sentence…
Alicia gives a gift to me.
Alicia me da un regalo a mí.
What if we want to say, “Alicia gives it to me”?
Do the shift
Alicia me da un regalo a mí.
lo1. Change “un regalo” to “lo”
2. Next, “lo” and “da” exchange places. Alicia me lo da a mí.
What about placement? Don’t drive without your “ID”
Indirect before Direct
Alicia me da un regalo a mí.

Alicia gives it to me.
Indirect Direct
You can’t “le lo”, you gotta “se lo”.
Or,… You’ve gotta get the “L” out
If you use the indirect object pronoun “le” or “les”with a direct object pronoun, change the IO pronounto “se”. For example: Le > Se before lo, la, los, las
Les> Se I read the book to her.
Yo se lo leí. NOT Yo le lo leí.
Review question:If both direct and indirect object pronouns are used and both are 3rd person, then the indirect object pronoun changes to ______
