More than 30 Million Passengers in the Future• The terminal will be expanded by over 100,000 m2. In 2020, it will cover

over 250,000 m2 in area (= 10 Parliament Houses).• The number of passenger boarding bridges for wide-bodied aircraft will double from

eight to 16.• The capacity of luggage handling will increase by 50 %.• The apron, i.e. the stand and taxiway area for aircraft, will be renewed in an area of

450,000 m2 (= 90 football fields).• The airport’s total area is 1,800 hectares. If the airport were placed over the centre of

Helsinki, it would reach from Kaisaniemi to Katajanokka and Töölö.• Investments in the development programme will amount to 1 billion euro.• The impact on employment during construction will be 14,000 person-years.
